Detail on Room Templates

Information about room templates in the Master Tables operating range.

You can customize existing room templates or create your own room templates. These templates are used to select predefined rooms when a new room is to be created in a project. To make these definitions permanently available, they should be created in a template file.

Generally, the following applies to all definable parameters: If you specify a value such as width or parapet height in a room template, the value can no longer be changed when the template is used in the room. Leave input fields empty if you want the values to remain editable.

Abbreviation

May contain a text and/or a variable. Available variables:
  • one to three digit numbers
  • Numbers and abbreviations of superordinate levels
In the corresponding context menu, predefined variables are () available for selection.

Name

Free text to be entered for this room template.

Type

Drop-down list to select the room type. Based on the room type, standardized room temperatures and minimum air changes are purposed for the heat load calculation. In the domestic ventilation module, the room type controls whether a room is classified as a supply air room, exhaust air room or overflow air room.

Room temperatures

You can enter either fixed temperatures or variables for the heating and cooling case.

Dimensions

You can indicate (clear) length and width of the room. Click to open the Room Dimensioning dialog where you can specify wall thicknesses. Areas and volumes are automatically calculated from the indicated values.

Approximate capacity per qm

Clicking opens the Approximate heat load, in which you can select a specific approximate capacity depending on the building type. You can also enter a customized value. Specific approximate capacities are used in the calculation basis Approximate heat load <quick-entry> (2003) and in dimensioning of radiators, cooling convectors or panel heating/cooling systems, which are based on flat area values instead of calculated heat or cooling loads.

During the building detection, the specific approximate capacities of the room templates are transferred. When assigning the rooms to the room templates, the room types of the rooms in the CAD program and the room types of the room templates in LINEAR Building are decisive. In LINEAR Building the first room template of the Table of room templates is used, which corresponds to the room type of the room in the CAD program.
