Construction design in AutoCAD based on a Revit model

LINEAR Solutions V23.1

LINEAR Design 3D programs for AutoCAD can fully show their strengths in terms of the level of detail when it comes to construction and installation design. In these late design phases, the flexibility of a Revit design is no longer needed, as the parametric models have been replaced by fixed manufacturer components and the focus shifts to the information of the connection technology (detailing down to the last screw). In the case of such a platform change, the Revit model previously had to be redesigned in AutoCAD at great time and expense.
We have closed this gap and now you can export your Revit model completely or in parts in order to further process it with our Design 3D solutions. During the import, you can already define desired manufacturer components and then continue to design in detail with the usual comfort.

User-defined pressure loss curves in the duct network calculation

LINEAR Solutions V23.1

In the duct network calculation, you can now enter pressure loss curves for self-defined manufacturers, model series and nominal sizes and then assign them to the corresponding components. During the calculation, the pressure loss of the component is determined according to the prevailing volume flow. For air diffusers, you can also store pressure loss curves of the damper positions so that these can also be used for the flow mechanical balancing of the system.

Extended component selection for position number assignment

LINEAR Solutions V23.1

With this new function, you can now more easily select connected components for position number assignment. Depending on the selected mode, you can select single components, a net section or a whole net. For a net segment (also called a path), you select a start and end component and then all components between these components are selected. Net mode allows you to select an entire net, where you select a start component and then specify a direction. This selects all connected components up to the network end or network start components according to the selected direction.

Simple calculation of total flow and minimum flow pressure for partial network ends

Simple calculation of total flow and minimum flow pressure for partial network ends

LINEAR Solutions V23.1

When using partial network ends to substitute additional potable water consumers, you can now use a simple calculation aid to calculate the total flow rates and the minimum flow pressure. To do this, simply enter the number of different consumers that are replaced by the partial network end in the component dialog. The total flow rates and the minimum flow pressure are calculated according to these specifications. For the calculation, you can either use the stored default values or enter your own values. You can also define which of the substituted consumers are relevant for flushing.

Extended zoning of MEP spaces via own structure-giving parameters

    LINEAR Solutions V23.0

Now you have the possibility to easily define user-specific structure-giving parameters in Revit and use them within the zoning. This allows you to group MEP rooms according to zones, e.g. also from a room-climatic point of view. Analogous to the existing zoning functionality, this allows the structured grouping of rooms according to your own parameter keys now, in order to define your own superordinate zone groups. You can use this, for example, to create zones for different categories of air quality. However, any parameters can be defined to group rooms and to use and visualize them via the zoning dialog.

Automated diagnosis of the Revit model

      EN_Modelldiagnose.png

      LINEAR Solutions V23.0

With the new Model diagnosis in the LINEAR tab, you can now start test routines to check a Revit model for potential problems. Check routines are currently available in three areas, which you can use collectively or individually.

        Embedded content:
Checking the model for problems with unused families, families that are too large, embedded DWGs and unused raster images.

        Areas and Spaces:
Review of the model with respect to unplaced, unconstrained, and redundant areas /spaces. Also a plausibility check for the height of rooms can be performed.

        Pipe/Duct networks
Check of direct duct connections or flex ducts without geometry, which often occur due to a too tight curve during duct construction. Air ducts with internal and external insulation can also be found and indicated.

If potential problems are found during the check, you will find the description with reference to the affected elements within the reports in the Reports and Tasks tab.

Detect collisions between operating and assembly spaces

        LINEAR Solutions V23.0

The LINEAR collision check now also detects collisions between operating and assembly spaces. In addition, you now have the option to ignore collisions of directly connected components, which can occur, e.g. between a basin and the connected wastewater pipe.

Excel export for reports, tasks and topics

          LINEAR Solutions V23.0

In addition to the BCF format, you can now export the reports and tasks as an Excel spreadsheet, e.g. to pass them on to the project manager for a simple overview. Furthermore, you can also export all topics of a project bundled as BCF or Excel file.

            Excel export of key lists

            EN_Schluesselliste.png

            LINEAR Solutions V23.0

Similar to the part lists, you can now also export key lists via the Excel export in the LINEAR tab. This allows you to document and pass on the keys as well as the associated parameter values.

Cross-section editor in the pipeline corridor concept extended to include fixings

              LINEAR Solutions V23.0

When defining cross sections, you can now also consider the space requirements of fixing elements for mounting pipes and ducts. Analogous to the previous cross-section definition, clamps, threaded rods, insertion rails and wall brackets can thus also be positioned using drag & drop. This allows you to determine and document the necessary space requirements of the pipeline corridors even more realistically in early design phases.

                Neutral access doors

                LINEAR Solutions V23.0

Within the LINEAR library tab in the discipline of ventilation, neutral access doors for rectangular air ducts are now available for the sake of completeness.

Transfer data to dwelling stations and take generic stations with data into account in the calculation

                EN_WOST.png

                LINEAR Solutions V23.0

In the assistant for dwelling and decentralized fresh water stations, you can now use the Assign button to transfer set data to a dwelling station and optionally change the symbol or model. This makes it easy to transfer any changes, e.g. in the potable water data or the underfloor heating, to the respective dwelling station. In addition you can transfer the data of a manufacturer's station to a generic dwelling station to use it in the calculation if no Revit family is available.

                LINEAR Solutions V23.0

In the duct network calculation, zeta values based on the ASHRAE tables are now additionally available for the pressure loss calculation. Thus, you have the choice whether the dynamic zeta value determination of the fittings should be based on ASHRAE or on the “Handbuch der Klimatechnik”.

Determine zeta values for flow situations outside the limits

                EN_Extrapolation.png

                LINEAR Solutions V23.0

In the duct network calculation, you now have the choice of whether the zeta values are also determined automatically if the flow situation lies outside the tables of the respective source (e.g. ASHRAE). To do this, activate the Extrapolate table values option. In the calculation reports, you will then see a note for the components for which extrapolation has been performed and you can check the plausibility of the values there. If the Extrapolate table values option is deactivated, no zeta values are determined for the components whose flow situation lies outside the limits. In these cases, it is then necessary to specify corresponding values.

e-klimaX export of air duct systems in Revit

                    LINEAR Solutions V22.3

The export interface for e-klimaX is now available in Revit. We do not limit the interface to a simple export function, but offer you a practical solution in form of our own workflow. In this way, errors in the parametrics are better detected and can be corrected by you before data export. The only requirement is that the duct system must consist of parts that follow the dimensioning rules of the e-klimaX specification in terms of their parametrics. For this purpose, we have further developed our own air duct class "liNear Neutral Air Ducts" and integrated the assignment of the corresponding parameters for "unknown" air duct systems in our parameter management.

The location and integrated climate data for the heating load calculation has been supplemented for Croatia. Likewise, the data for Russia has been updated according to SP 131.13330.2020.

Creating your own location and climate data for load calculations

                      LINEAR Solutions V22.2

In the Locations dialog you can now also create, edit or delete your own regions and locations with climate data. The corresponding buttons located next to the selection of the region as well as below the selection list of the locations open a dialog in which you can change or completely create new data sets. For each input field, a tooltip is provided that briefly describes the calculation(s) for which the respective field is required.

Improved displaying of components in the CAD model

                      LINEAR Solutions V22.2

The functions for displaying elements from liNear Building in the CAD model and vice versa has been fundamentally revised and improved. This makes navigation through the model and calculation much easier. Spaces as well as individual space bounding components are now highlighted in color, regardless of whether the element is located in the current model or in one of its links.
Likewise, the area proportions of objects such as walls and ceilings that result from the room assignment are taken into account, and only the corresponding part of the component in the model is highlighted when it is displayed. There are two modes for showing: If you use the magnifying glass icon, the command is executed once with the selected element and the element is shown in the CAD model. If you activate the fixed mode (magnifying glass symbol with pin), the elements selected in liNear Building will be permanently displayed automatically in the CAD model until the mode is exited again.
The function "Find CAD Element" (pipette symbol) selects the room depending on the view direction in which the element is selected in the CAD model and displays the selected element in this room in liNear Building. Thus, it makes a difference whether you select a door from the corridor side or from the room side.

Merging tables in the parameter management

                          LINEAR Solutions V22.2

Instead of replacing all existing alias entries in the project when loading a new definition file, you can now decide whether these entries should be replaced or merged with the list to be loaded. This gives you the option of dynamically adding individual sub-lists and thus continuously expanding the overall list depending on the project status.

Improved cross section editor for the pipeline corridor concept

                            LINEAR Solutions V22.2

To make the design of cross sections for your corridor concept even more convenient, an "Undo" function has been added to the cross section editor. In addition, you can now delete elements from your layout with the Del key. When adding pipes, a spacing is now automatically added to the other pipes. The last setting is used for the distance dimension.

Automatic connection of waste water components

                              LINEAR Solutions V22.2

With the new function Connect components in the discipline waste water, you can now automatically connect consumers such as washbasins, showers, toilets, etc. to collection or downpipes. Of course, the connection is based on the technical guidelines for drainage. The software searches for pipes with suitable media from the selected consumers and automatically constructs the connection of the waste water pipes, including the gradient. The prerequisite is a technically correct framework in terms of construction heights and distances that would also allow connections with the available fittings in reality.

In the configuration of the potable water calculation, you can now select the option that when dimensioning closed circular pipes with flow dividers based on VDI 3805 data sets, the flow type is directly taken into account during dimensioning as an additional criterion. In this case, the dimension of the circular pipe is increased until a regular exchange of the water content of the circular pipe is ensured by flushing devices or a sufficiently large peak volume flow rate.
Furthermore, the analysis of networks with flow dividers has been further improved, so that the calculation time could be shortened, but at the same time more accurate results are obtained when considering hygiene.

Consideration of sound data from central air handling units

                                LINEAR Solutions V22.2

For central air handling units that you have inserted from the liNear CAD Browser, the technical data of the air connections are now also taken into account directly in the duct network calculation. On the one hand, it is checked whether the volume flow and the compression correspond to the results of the connected duct network. On the other hand, the sound levels specified by the manufacturer are used as a source for the sound level calculation for each air connection.

Specify damper blade position of protective gratings

                                LINEAR Solutions V22.2

If you decide to use a protective grating with balancing dampers from the liNear CAD Browser, you can now even take the damper position into account for the airflow mechanical balancing of several flow parts. You can choose whether you specify the volume flow rates and the required damper blade position is determined or whether you specify a damper blade position and the adjusting volume flow rates are determined.

In the case of outdoor installations with several protective gratings, the adjusting air volume flows at the gratings are now also calculated. The automatic calculation is activated by default. However, you can still enter values manually. To do this, remove the checkmark from the "calculate" option in the component dialog of the protective grating and enter the desired value. The possibly required pressure loss for the individual flow paths will still be calculated.

Cross-section splitting often becomes necessary where an air duct with its total cross-section cannot be passed through a structural situation at one point. In such cases, the duct is divided into parallel sections that are brought together again after the obstacle.
The duct network calculation can now detect such situations and calculate them perfectly. The flow paths created by the cross-section splitting are also compared with each other. For each individual flow path, the volume flow rate is determined based on the prevailing pressure loss. In the calculation dialog, you can recognize the sections of the cross-section separation in the area of the sections parts by indentation and colored marking of the section parts numbers.
