About Control Types

Explains the concept of the different VDI control types.

The maximum required room cooling capacity depends heavily on the selected control concept. VDI 2078 describes seven different control strategies (A–G) for the room air temperature. The resultant maximum cooling capacity can differ by a factor of up to 2 for the different control concepts. This not only depends significantly on the permitted maximum room temperature, but also on the temperature at which the room cooling starts operating.

The cases A, B, C and E can be set in LINEAR Building. To do this, set different combinations of temperature profile and load limit:
Control concept Temperature profile Load limit
A Constant temperature Deactivated
B Temperature controlled by outside air Deactivated
C Lower temperature limit activated; set a constant temperature for both temperature profiles Deactivated
E Lower temperature limit activated; set a temperature controlled by the outside air for both temperature profiles Deactivated
