About Windows

Explains the concept of windows in LINEAR Building.

In the dynamic cooling load calculation, a calculation model for the window, which includes both the internal and the external shading in the calculation, is used for computing the energy transferred by solar radiation into the room. A simple calculation model and a calculation model according to VDI 2078 are available for selection. In both models, how much energy from direct and diffuse solar radiation reaches the room is calculated from the energy transmittance (g-value). In the room, the energy is then divided into separate radiation and convection components.

In the calculation model for VDI 2078, a mechanical solar protection device further reduces the variable solar radiation intensity set by a user automatically if it is exceeded, leading to reduced energy entering the room. You can define various external shading configurations with the shading editor. The set shading is simulated three-dimensionally in the time lapse; the viewing angle can be changed. All changes to the external solar protection are visible directly in this simulation.

You can save this configuration and assign it to individual windows. Alternatively, you can assign the window configuration using the Search & Replace function to a number of windows in the project.
