Details on Technical Data for Three-Way Valves
Information about the technical data dialog for three-way valves.
Mixing valves are inserted to regulate the flow temperatures of the partial network ends downstream. In this dialog, you specify the component data that will be used in the calculation. In addition, for manufacturer-neutral fittings, you can select the connection type for the component connections.
You are here:

Name
In this field you can enter an individual name for the component. Clicking on
restores the original name and overwrites the previous entry.
Design Data – Secondary Side
Supply Water, Return Water, Pressure Loss, Mass Flow Rate: Enter the requested supply water and return water temperatures of the mixing valve for the secondary side here. As soon as you change the design data, clicking OK will prompt you to confirm how the changes should affect the connected consumers.
Three-Way Control Valve
The model, the pressure loss, and the authority of the neutral or assigned valve will be displayed as soon as the pipe network is calculated.
Characteristic Specification. The specification of the characteristic curve is displayed in the parts list.
Dimensioning: After the calculation, the three-way valve is dimensioned by the program at first. You may specifically select kvs values from the standard series of the neutral valve as well. With respect to manufacturer-specific armatures, a manufacturer-specific kvs series is available for selection after calculation. If User-Defined Presetting is selected, you may enter freely the cv value and the dimension.
Select ...: Opens the Select Valve Series dialog, where you can select a manufacturer-specific three-way valve and assign it to the component by clicking the Apply button. The selected valve with appertaining specific data will be displayed in the dialog after selection. The range of valves depends on the installed manufacturer datasets.
Dimension, Authority, kvs-Value and Pressure Loss: Enter the valve authority for this mixing valve. With this specification you may set on your own the ratio between the pressure losses of the mixing valve and the pressure losses in the volume-adaptable pipe network (primary side) including the mixing valve. The appertaining kv value will be displayed after the calculation.
The kvs-value and the authority are updated only after performing another calculation of the pipe network.
Reset: The Reset button resets the manually assigned armature to a neutral model.
Info …: Available when valve data is selected. When using manufacturer-specific valves, opens the dialog Information about this Valve with further values and information stored in the data set. For custom valves, the Curve Data dialog opens with information on the custom data set.
Inlet, Outlet, Branch
Drop-down lists for selecting the connection types for the component's connections. This option is available only for manufacturer-neutral components. After selecting a connection, the selected connection type is also assigned to the other component connections. If necessary, you can also assign different connection types to the connections. The selected connections are included in the bill of materials. Based on the connection definition and the selected piping system, any required fittings will also be included in the bill of materials, provided that the data set for the selected piping system includes them.
Dimensioning Data – Primary Side
Supply Water, Return Water, Pressure Loss, Mass Flow Rate: Here, supply water temperature, return water temperature, pressure loss, and mass flow rate of the primary side are displayed. In this respect, the supply water and return water temperatures correspond to the data in the heat or cooling generator.
The flow and return temperatures are initially identical on the primary side (heat or cooling generator of the partial network) and secondary side and must be defined manually for the secondary side in this dialog. Changes to the design data on the primary side are displayed in this dialog and influence the calculation of the secondary side.
