About Component Connections

Explains the role of component connections in pipe network calculations for heating, domestic water, cooling and district networks.

In the disciplines Heating, Domestic Water, Cooling, and District Networks, you can configure component connections so that any additional connection material is included in the bill of materials, provided that the data sets used contain these connection materials.

Component Connections for Consumers (Heating, Cooling)

In the disciplines Heating and Cooling, you can use the function Radiator Connection … to specify the type of connection for consumers. If connection sets are defined in the manufacturer's data sets used for the connection type, the additional connection material is included in the bill of materials. You can view the items included in the connection sets using the "Additional Material" function and edit them as needed.

Valve Connections

In the disciplines Heating, Domestic Water, Cooling, and District Networks, you can define the connection types for component connections of manufacturer-neutral and custom valves so that the appropriate connectors are included in the bill of materials. In order for the appropriate connectors to be output, the data sets for the pipe systems used must include the corresponding items. For manufacturer-supplied valves, the connections for the components are typically specified in the corresponding data sheet and cannot be modified. They are only displayed.

For vendor-neutral components, you define the connection types for the inlet, outlet, and any additional branches in the component data dialogs, which you open using the Technical Data …function in the Components section.

Note: You can also specify the connection types in the LINEAR Properties. Take these steps, for example, if you want to adjust the connections of multiple components at once.

For user-defined fittings, you define the connection types when creating the data sets using the Create Data Sets … function. You can do this when creating individual nominal diameters in the data sets. Here, too, the prerequisite for issuing the correct connectors is that the data sets for the pipe systems being used include the corresponding items.

Connections of Other Components

For all other components, you can set the connection type in the LINEAR Properties section, unless manufacturer data or custom data sets have been assigned. Using the LINEAR Properties, you can also define the connections for multiple components at once.
