Details on Technical Data for Differential Pressure Closed-loop Controller

Information about the technical data dialog for differential pressure closed-loop controller.

A differential pressure closed-loop controller is installed for keeping a constant differential pressure (within a proportional band required by the controlling system) in a pipe run. In this dialog box, you can configure settings relevant to calculations for this valve. In addition, for manufacturer-neutral fittings, you can select the connection type for the component connections.

Dialog “Technical Data” of Differential Pressure Controllers in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk Revit

Name

In this field you can enter an individual name for the component. Clicking on restores the original name and overwrites the previous entry.

Design Data (Secondary Side)

The upper part of the dialog box displays the maximum pressure loss on the secondary side of the differential pressure controller in addition to the mass flow rate.

Valve Data

Select: Opens the Select Valve Series dialog, where you can select a manufacturer-specific differential pressure controller and assign it to the selected component. The selected differential pressure transducer with appertaining specific data will be displayed in the dialog after selection. The range of available differential pressure closed-loop controllers depends on the installed manufacturer data sets.

Reset: The Reset button resets the manually assigned armature to a neutral model.

Info …: Available when valve data is selected. When using manufacturer-specific valves, opens the dialog Information about this Valve with further values and information stored in the data set. For custom valves, the Curve Data dialog opens with information on the custom data set.

Nominal Diameter: In this drop-down list the current nominal diameter of the valve is displayed. You can select and set other dimensions from the drop-down list depending on the model. The determined nominal diameter is then used in the calculation.

locked

Enabled: The manually selected nominal diameter of the assigned valve is not adjusted during calculation.

Disabled: The nominal diameter of the assigned valve is adjusted based on the calculation results. The new assigned nominal diameter will be displayed the next time the dialog is opened.

Further data: The current values for mass flow rate, pressure loss, and the valve setting are displayed here.

Inlet, Outlet

Drop-down lists for selecting the connection types for the component's connections. This option is available only for manufacturer-neutral components. After selecting a connection, the selected connection type is also assigned to the other component connections. If necessary, you can also assign different connection types to the connections. The selected connections are included in the bill of materials. Based on the connection definition and the selected piping system, any required fittings will also be included in the bill of materials, provided that the data set for the selected piping system includes them.

Setting

The Design Target must be set to be greater than or equal to the maximum pressure loss of the control circuit in relation to the nominal or design volume flow of the differential pressure controller. In case the desired pressure loss is greater than the maximum pressure loss, the pipe network of the subsequent control circuit has to reduce the excess pressure at the control valves designed for this purpose, so that the design volume flow can set. If a Design Target is specified that is smaller than the calculated pressure loss of the most unfavorable control circuit on the secondary side, an error message is issued in the report during calculation. Furthermore, with a neutral fitting, you can adjust the P deviation (due to the proportional control characteristic of the differential pressure controller).

Pressure Loss Valve

Shows the pressure loss of the valve in the current discipline.

Attention:

The differential pressure controller always consists of two components, which must be assigned using the Connect Components < function after integration into the pipe network.
