Allocating Components to a Room

Provides step-by-step instructions on how to allocate components to a room in your model.

Before you begin

You want to establish a clear allocation of components to rooms in the model.

Requirements

You have created spaces in your model.

Navigate to

Revit RibbonLINEAR | ToolsProductivity

Procedure

  1. Optional: Select one or more components in your model.
    Note:

If you do not make a preselection in the model, all components from the active view will be included in the room allocation.

  2. In the Productivity section of the LINEAR | Tools menu area in the Revitribbon, click Room Allocation.

The Room Allocation dialog opens, displaying a list of all components, including their room allocation.

  3. Optional: Sort the Confidence column in ascending order to display the least certain room allocations at the top of the list.
  4. In the table, select an entry for which you want to check or change the room allocation.

At the side of the viewport, the Room Allocation dialog opens, displaying colored maps for the rooms to which the component can be assigned. Similarly, the rooms in the model are highlighted in color. The current room allocation is indicated by a filled-in white radio button on the colored card.

  5. Optional: Click Isolate Component to crop the area around the component.
    Tip:

For example, use a shaded view in Revit to better see the location of the components.

  6. Check the room allocation in the view and change the assignment by clicking on the corresponding colored card.
  7. In the main dialog, click Save Mapping.

Results

You have changed the room allocation for the selected component. The assignment was automatically saved in the parameters for the room name and room number of the respective component.
