Detecting Building

Explains the concept of building detection as an interface between the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk Revit and LINEAR Building.

The preparation and construction of your pipe or duct network takes place in Revit. The analysis and calculation of the building loads takes place in LINEAR Building. The Building Detection function bundles all relevant data and makes it available for detection with LINEAR Building When entering data, you can specify whether the building structure is to be transferred with or without enveloping surfaces. If, for example, major changes are to be expected in the course of the project and general load calculations are required for the time being, it is advisable to detect without enveloping surfaces. The enveloping surfaces can be updated as required. The data transferred during detection with enveloping surfaces is used in LINEAR Building to create a thermal building model that can be as detailed as needed.

In LINEAR Building, you can define whether and how certain parameters are transferred during building detection in the configuration before detection. If required, thermally relevant components from Revit can be assigned to a component previously defined in LINEAR Building from the master tables via a shared type parameter in order to be able to use the thermal properties of the user-defined component for the load determination.

On the Analyse tab, you can make the settings for building detection of the architecture on the Revit side.
