Creating Spaces
Explains the concept of spaces.
Unlike architectural models, the MEP models use spaces instead of architectural rooms to divide the building into rooms. The reason for this is that additional data such as air volumes or thermal loads for thermal building analysis are stored in MEP spaces, which are not present in architectural rooms. Therefore, when linking the architecture with the MEP model, it is necessary to assign MEP spaces to the architectural rooms. With the tools in the construction tab of the discipline Architecture, this assignment can be carried out automatically.
After building detection, the parameters of spaces can be used to calculate building loads. The results of the calculations can be written back to the spaces and used, for example, for labeling.
