Create Usage Profiles

Shows step-by-step how to create usage profiles for determining the required air volumes in rooms according to the calculation method VDI 6040 Schools (09-2015).

Before you begin

You would like to create usage profiles in the calculation method VDI 6040 Schools (09-2015) in order to subsequently assign them to rooms for the air volume calculation.

Requirements:

  • There is at least one room in your project.
  • In the module Ventilation, the calculation method is set to VDI 6040 Schools (09-2015).

Navigate to:

Procedure

  1. Click in the column Usage Profile on and select Manage Usage Profiles in the appearing menu.
The Usage Profiles for School Rooms dialog opens.
Dialog "Usage Profiles For School Rooms" in LINEAR Building
  2. Click on and select Add from the appearing menu.
The dialog Name of the New Usage Profile opens.
Dialog"Name of the New Usage Profile" in LINEAR Building
  3. Enter the name for the usage profile in the Name input field and click OK.
  4. The usage profile is created and opened for editing.
  5. Click in the table and select Standard Occupancy in the appearing menu.
A row is added to the table for the first time interval of the usage profile, in which the first teaching unit is defined.
Dialog "Usage Profiles for School Rooms" with a Time Interval
  6. Enter the number of people who are present in the room during the session in the column Number Of People and adjust the Duration of the session if necessary.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add further time intervals for lessons or breaks to the usage profile. Select Break Occupancy instead of Normal Occupancy when adding new rows to define a time interval for a break.
Tip: You can also use the F5 key to add more intervals to the table or, if located in the bottom row of the table, the key.
  8. After defining all time intervals of the usage profile, close the dialog with OK or create additional usage profiles if necessary.

Results

You have created usage profiles for air volume determination with the calculation method VDI 6040 Schools (09-2015).

What to do next

You can now assign the created usage profiles to the rooms in the Schools area at project level.
Tip: If necessary, use the column et, to assign a usage profile to multiple rooms simultaneously.
