About Building Detection from a Room Book

Explains the concept of room book-based working in early planning phases.

In early planning phases, a building model of the required quality is not always available. In such cases, you can alternatively detect a building from an Excel table with room book information instead of detecting it from a CAD program. Therefore, in the first step, all rooms with their already available data can be imported into LINEAR Building. Afterwards, you can manage imported room parameters such as temperatures, loads, or number of people independently from the building model and use them for initial component design and system concepts. As planning progresses, you can synchronize the data at any time with the corresponding room book. You control the desired synchronization direction for each parameter through the synchronization settings.

Once a detailed CAD model is available, it can be detected as usual with the building detection in the already available project. If the room name and room number match, the rooms will be automatically assigned, and all room parameters are updated considering the current synchronization settings.

The synchronization of room data with a room book is available at any point in the workflow, even after building detection.
