Symbol bar

New project

Creates a new project.

Drop-down list: New

Creates a new project, building section, storey, apartment or room depending on the context.

Open project

Opens an existing project.

Save project

Saves the currently opened project. When saving for the first time, the Save as dialog is called.

Undo, Redo

Undoes the last workflow (also Ctrl-Z) or restores a previously undone workflow.

The function can be deactivated in the Configuration at General with the checkbox Undo/Redo Log. This is useful especially for large projects to relieve the processing load.

Cut, Copy, Paste

You can cut or copy currently marked elements and paste them again at the currently marked position. These functions can also be activated using the familiar shortcuts Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V.

Search and Replace

Opens the Search & Replace dialog where you can modify specific properties of room components and rooms. This allows you, for example, to filter out all exterior walls with a certain U-value, view these components in a table and then replace the U-value with a new value.

Print preview

Before you start the printing process, you can check the printout in a page view on the screen.

View backward, View forward

If you switched between views or modules, you can use these buttons to switch between the last views.

Reports

Displays in the log window the messages relevant either only for the current module or for all calculations. In both cases the whole project is calculated.

Interrupt calculation

Activated: The project will no longer be recalculated after each modification. This option is useful especially for large projects or in processing intensive modules such as dynamic cooling load calculation.

Configuration

Opens the Configuration dialog, in which you can set basic settings for LINEAR Building.

CAD-Connection

Establishes the connection to a CAD program. If you have multiple CAD programs or projects open, you can select which platform or project to connect to. LINEAR Building Is able to connect to AutoCAD, Revit and LINEAR CADinside. The connection to a CAD program is a requirement for the functions of the CAD features described below.

Drawing

Draws selected elements into a connected CAD program. The elements that may be drawn in include, for example, radiators, panel heating elements or floor heating manifolds. If you draw in an element that already exists in the target document, you can use a query to delete the existing element before placing it.

This function can also be activated via F10.

Labeling

Labels selected elements in a connected CAD program. The elements that may be labeled include, for example, radiators, panel heating elements or floor heating manifolds. If an element has already been labeled, the old label will be overwritten when this element is labeled again.

This function can also be activated via F3.

Refresh

Selectively refreshes individual levels, rooms, room data, building geometries or results with a connected CAD program. This process takes into account modifications in the connected CAD program as well as modifications in LINEAR Building. In case of conflicts, the settings from LINEAR Building have priority.

Once a building is detected, in LINEAR Building you can write the values of LINEAR parameters change or parameters add and back to a connected CAD. The prerequisite for updating these LINEAR parameters in Revit is that they are listed first in the Revitparameter manager.

If you delete a component or an element of the building structure in LINEAR Building that was previously created in the CAD program using the Link IFC Architecture ... command of the IFC Building Manager and then transferred to LINEAR Building, the program asks whether the element should be transferred from the CAD program again during the next synchronization. If you confirm the query with Yes, the element will be applied to LINEAR Building again during the next synchronization. If you confirm the query with No, you can determine whether to restore the item in LINEAR Building or not during the next synchronization.

Pipe run scheme

Generates a pipe run scheme. The requirement for this is that the heat load has been calculated and the radiators have been dimensioned.

Note:

This function is only available in combination with AutoCAD.

CAD-length, Loading area

If the cursor is in a text field that requires a dimension, you can use this function to tap the length or area from the connected CAD program. Make sure that the scale of the floor plan in the CAD program matches the scale in the CAD General area of the Configuration dialog.

This function can also be activated via F9.

Show CAD element

Highlights a selected element in the connected CAD program in color. Elements that can be marked include, for example, component segments, doors, windows, rooms, apartments, storeys or building sections. Elements of the same type from the master tables are highlighted in CAD as a group.

Show CAD element

This function remains active until you click the button again. This means that you can display several elements directly one after another in the CAD- model without having to restart the function for each element.

Note:

In conjunction with Revit, elements in linked drawings can also be selected.

Search CAD element

Displays an element, selected with this function in the connected CAD program, in its corresponding context in LINEAR Building. In case of doors, the element is displayed in the room from whose side it was selected: If a door is selected from the corridor side, LINEAR Building switches to the Corridor room and marks the corresponding door. If the door is selected from the room behind it, it will be shown in the context of the corresponding room in LINEAR Building.

In Revit, you can use the Tab key to switch to the desired element in case of multi-layer elements.

Delete element from drawing

Deletes the currently selected element in the connected CAD program, but not in LINEAR Building.

Info

Opens the Program Info dialog, which displays the current version status and other information.
