Discipline, Project, Locations

Select the source from which you want to choose the component.

Source

Meaning

Discipline

Contains all neutral LINEAR components of the selected discipline.

Project

Contains all components that are part of the project, regardless of the selected discipline.

Locations

Contains all components that are stored under Places in the Revit options, regardless of the selected discipline. Multiple paths can be entered there, which are displayed in the Library drop-down list.

Search term

The search function refers to the selected source. Enter a search term. The found hits are displayed in the Found families section. The search is carried out within the family names and the group names. Capitalization is not taken into account. When changing the source, the search will continue from there. To remove the search term, press Delete.

Mode

Place or replace selected component: This mode can be combined with the other modes. First select a placement mode (Place, Place on grid or Replace). Then, after clicking on in the model, you can select the component that is to be placed on a grid, placed again or replaced with other components.

Place: Inserts the selected family into the model.

Place on grid: Starts the command for defining a rectangle. This opens the Place on grid dialog where you define a grid for placing the selected component.

Replace: Replaces one or more components in the model with the selected family.

Rotates selected components clockwise around their own axis in 90° steps.

Component group

The components are arranged in different categories, whose sections can be expanded.

Family

First, the families are not yet included in the project. When clicking a family, it will be loaded into the project. Then, the component can be placed in the project with another click.
