Defining Component Connections

Provides step-by-step instructions on how to define connection types for manufacturer-neutral components in the Technical Data.

Before you begin

You want to specify the connection types for a manufacturer-neutral component in its Technical Data so that the bill of materials contains the additional connection material. The additional connection materials will only be provided if the data set for the selected piping system contains the appropriate materials.

Note: The connection types can also be specified in the LINEAR Properties under Calculation - Item Data. Use this procedure for components that do not have an option to define connections in the dialog Technical Data, or if you want to set the connection types for multiple components at the same time.

  4. Use the drop-down list Inlet to specify the connection type of the incoming component connection.
  5. Use the drop-down list Outlet to specify the connection type of the outgoing component connection.
  6. If necessary, use the drop-down list Branch to specify the connection type for the branching component connection, provided the component has a branch.
  7. Close the dialog with OK.

Results

You have configured the component's connections, and any additional connection materials required are included in the bill of materials, provided that the data set for the selected piping system contains the corresponding materials.
