Duct material table dialog in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Rigid Pipes, Flexible Pipes and Rectangular Ducts

When you select Pipes and Ducts …, all three tabs are available. On the tabs, you define the materials and dimensions for the respective pipe and duct types in the network.

When accessing the tab through Duct Material …, the available tab depends on the pipe/duct type of the previously selected duct/pipe segment. On this tab, you specify the material and dimensions for this section.

Manufacturer

Only User-Defined is available. Under User-Defined, you'll find manufacturer-neutral pipe and duct systems that you can customize and expand as needed. The input is automatically saved in an external file.

System

Only User-Defined is available, using manufacturer-neutral pipe or duct systems.

Table of Systems

The table above lists manufacturer-neutral systems. The systems can be expanded when opening the table through Pipes and Ducts …. To create a new system, click into a free row in the table.

Element

Description

Active

Activate the field for the system you want to use for the material assignment.

Note: This column does not appear when when opening the dialog using Pipes and Ducts ….
Name

The name of the pipe or duct system is used for labeling and in the parts lists.

Abbreviations

The abbreviation of the pipe or duct system name is used for labeling.

Roughness

The roughness of the pipe or duct material is used to calculate pressure losses.

Thickness

For rectangular ducts, the material thickness of the duct material is also displayed/specified.

Weight

For rectangular ducts, the specific weight of the duct material is additionally displayed/specified.

<< Details, Details >>

Shows or hides the lower dimension table.

Default

Sets the default material if it has not been selected. The button is only available if the Duct Table was opened via Duct Material ….

Table of Dimensions

In the lower table, all available dimensions of the selected system are shown.

When you access Pipes and Ducts …, you can specify which dimensions are to be excluded from automatic dimensioning by de-selecting them. The dimensions can be expanded. To create a new dimension, click in an empty row of the table. Dimensions are automatically sorted by size.

When accessed via Duct Material …, the table is for informational purposes only and cannot be edited.

Element

Description

Active

Only activated dimensions are considered during calculation. You can specifically exclude certain dimensions from automatic dimensioning by deactivating the field. The deactivated dimensions are still available for manual selection in the calculation dialog in the Pipe/Duct Section area.

DN

Displays or specifies the available nominal diameters of the pipe/duct.

Width, Height

For oval and rectangular ducts, the available widths and heights are also displayed/specified.

For rectangular ducts, the width and height can be enabled and disabled separately. This is helpful if the height or width of a duct must be restricted.
