Details on “Synchronize Excel Room Data Sheet”

Information on the Synchronize Excel Room Data Sheet dialog.

In this dialog, you can configure the settings for synchronizing room data between LINEAR Building and Excel Room Data Sheets.

When synchronizing with Excel Room Data Sheets that are already linked, most of the settings are usually already preset correctly. Additional rows can be added at any time.

When transferring room data to Excel Room Data Sheets for the first time, all relevant settings must be made. You can enter the names of the Excel columns in the Excel file of the Room Data Sheet before the transfer so that you do not have to do this in the dialog.

Dialog "Excel Room Data Sheet Synchronization” in LINEAR Building

Selected Excel Room Data Sheet

Path of the Excel Room Data Sheet that is used for synchronization. Clicking on opens the file explorer for selecting a Room Data Sheet in Excel format. For Room Data Sheets that are already linked, the corresponding file is already preset and can be adjusted if necessary.

Settings

Worksheet

Drop-down list for selecting the spreadsheet containing the Excel Room Data Sheet data or the spreadsheet to which the room data will be transferred.

ID Column

Dropdown list for selecting the column in which LINEAR Building IDs are written for unique identification of rooms.

Attention: Ensure that you do not specify a column with Room Book data for the ID Column to avoid data loss. For Room Data Sheets that are already linked, the default setting can usually be retained.

Header Row

Number of the row containing the Excel Room Data Sheet headers or to which the column headers are transferred.

Data Starting from Row

Defines the first row in which the Room Book data, such as the areas of the individual rooms, begins or is transferred in the Excel Room Book.

Table

In this table, you assign the room parameters for synchronization to the Excel columns. Click in an empty row or use the F5 key to add rows.

Table Column Description
Excel Column

Defines the name of the column in the Excel Room Data Sheet or displays the name.

For already linked Excel Room Data Sheets and new Excel Room Data Sheets with column headers, the column headers from the linked Excel Room Data Sheet are displayed. If you add additional rows, you can then enter the names of the individual Excel columns.

When transferring data to new Excel Room Data Sheets without column headers, you define the names of the individual Excel columns in this column.

Room Parameters

Defines the room parameter assigned to the Excel column and used for synchronization.

For Excel Room Data Sheets that are already linked, existing entries retain their assignments by default. If you select a different Excel Room Data Sheet for synchronization, suitable assignments are automatically set if they match the Room Data Sheet columns of the last mapping.

: Opens a context menu for selecting the room parameter. You can also create new parameters using the context menu. This is necessary, for example, if you transfer data from an Excel Room Data Sheet for which there are no matching LINEAR parameters to LINEAR Building. Newly created parameters are then available in the property sets of the Room Data Sheet module with the transferred values.

Unit Shows the unit with which an assigned parameter is imported. The unit is only displayed here and can not be edited.
Option Shows how a parameter is handled in the case of synchronization. A parameter can either always be imported from the Excel Room Data Sheet, always only be exported to the selected Excel Room Data Sheet, or synchronize the current value when a parameter is changed. This option can be customized here for each parameter. The prerequisite is that the Custom option has been selected in the Synchronization Configuration drop-down list.

Synchronization Configuration

Drop-down list for selecting the desired synchronization configuration. If the entry Custom has been selected here, you can define your own synchronization option for each parameter, regardless of the settings in the Synchronization section of the Configuration of LINEAR Building. These custom configurations are stored in the User Standards folder of LINEAR Building with the file extension .rbsync (ProgramData\liNear GmbH\Solutions XX\Building\User Standards). In the drop-down list, you can also import or export all parameters and restore the default settings.
