Shading Calculation
Explains the concept of Shading calculation in the Architecture discipline.
To precisely determine the cooling load during the analysis of a building model, shading from surrounding buildings or other objects, such as trees or depressions and elevations in the terrain, can also be considered. With the shading calculation in the Architecture discipline, you can generate additional shading data for this purpose, which you can then use in LINEAR Building to calculate the dynamic cooling load in accordance with VDI 2078 or ASHRAE.
To determine the shading data, you can select an individual location, but also define a piece of land to include open areas and exterior facilities. You also have the option of defining the calculation steps and the calculation period.
After the calculation, you can display the shading data for the individual window areas on your building model as an example shading curve. The curve can be displayed for the design days, i.e. for the months of April to September on the 15th day of each month, but also for each day of an entire year.
The generated shading data can then be saved for use with LINEAR Building in an external file (LINEAR EAC File). You can load the data in the Dynamic Cooling Load module in the area of the window configuration.
