Details on the Calculation Dialog for Ventilation
Information on the dialog LINEAR Analyse Ventilation.
The calculation dialog shows an overview of the detected pipe duct and contains all commands necessary for the calculation.
You are here:
Commands for the Calculation
The commands in the upper part of the calculation dialog refer to the entire pipe duct.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Systems | If the project contains several systems or partial networks you may determine which of the systems or partial network to display in the calculation dialog’s tables. You can use the drop-down list Systems to filter the selection by external or room-side systems. |
| ... | This button will open the dialog for technical data of the initial component. Here, you can change the system name shown in the drop-down list. |
![]() Calculate | Initiate the calculation of the pipe network after having made changes to see current calculation results. If you have activated the Recalculate after Editing checkbox in the Settings dialog, the calculation is automatically performed again after each editing of pipe/duct sections or components. |
![]() Visualization ... | This command displays properties and calculation results of the pipe network in color in the drawing. |
![]() Results ... | Displays additional information regarding the pipe network and an overview of the calculation results, which also are part of the printouts. |
![]() Reports ... | Displays an overview of notes, warnings and errors that occurred during calculation. You can recognize the type of report by the color of the button: green check mark: No current notes, warnings or errors. blue i There are notes on the calculation. yellow warning triangle: There are warnings for the calculation. red cross: There are errors in the calculation. Note: It is recommended to always carefully read the reports to correct errors in the drawing and ensure a proper calculation. |
![]() Labeling … | Label components and duct sections with calculation results. |
![]() Update < | If components or duct sections have already been labeled and calculation results have changed retrospectively, this button will refresh all labels with current data. |
| Pressure losses, Sound | With these buttons you switch between the results of the pressure loss calculation and the sound level calculation. The table for flow paths displays pressure losses or the results of sound level calculation, respectively. |
Commands for the Tables
,
Objects are displayed when selected from the lists in the project/model
Activated
: The drawing highlights the objects that belong to the currently selected row in the table of Flow paths, Pipe Sections, or Components. If necessary, the image will be zoomed in to ensure that the objects are visible.
Deactivated
: No objects in the drawing that belong to the currently selected row in the table for Flow Paths, Pipe Sections, or Components are highlighted.
Similar commands are available in the areas Flow Paths, Pipe Sections and Components.

![]() Search < | The command is available in the areas Flow Paths, Pipe/Duct Sections and Components. After clicking Search < select the element in the drawing. The respective table then highlights the flow path, the duct section or the component. If a certain flow path number, a duct section number or a component number needs to be found, enter the number into the text field and click Search <. The respective table then highlights the flow path, the duct section or the component. |
![]() Show | The command is available in the areas Flow Paths, Pipe/Duct Sections and Components. First, select the element from the table and click Show. The flow path, the duct section or the component is shown in the drawing. |
![]() Edit... | The command is available in the sections Flow paths, Duct sections and Components. First, select the item in the table and click on Edit …. The dialog for editing the component or pipe/duct section opens. |
![]() Edit < | The command is available in the Pipe Section, and Components sections. After clicking Edit <, select the item in the drawing. The dialog for editing the component or pipe/duct section opens. |
Flow Paths, Pipe/Duct Sections and Components
The tables contain all flow paths, duct sections and components of the calculated duct network. The Flow Paths table shows all flow paths present in the calculated duct network. The table Pipe/Duct Sections by default shows the pipe/duct sections of the flow path selected under Flow Paths. In the enlarged state, the table displays all sections of the entire system. The table Components by default shows all components contained in the selected pipe/duct section. When the table is enlarged, all components of the entire system are displayed in the table.

Generate 3D Pipes
Allows the assignment of pipe materials from the 3D Piping module after the calculation of a single-line pipe - network. After successful assignment, a three-dimensional pipe network is generated. Pre-assigned insulation material is considered. This process requires a license for the LINEAR 3D Design Pipe&Power module.
Make a backup copy of your drawing before having the 1-line pipe network converted to 3D.
The result of 3D generation may vary depending on which pipe material was chosen. It may occur that calculated nominal pipe sizes are not available for the selected 3D pipe material. This can lead to deviating results or open ends when calculating the 3D pipe network.
