Detect Building

Explains the concept of building detection as an interface between the LINEAR Building for Autodesk and LINEAR Building.

The preparation and construction of your pipe or duct network takes place in Revit. The analysis and calculation of the building loads takes place in LINEAR Building. The Building detection function collects all relevant data and makes it available for detection with LINEAR Building. The transferred data is used to create a thermal building model in LINEAR Building that can be as detailed as desired. You can assign a component type from LINEAR Building to components in Revit before detection so that the layer structure and the U-value of the component type from LINEAR Building are used during detection. You can also adjust the short names of components in Revit so that these short names are also used in LINEAR Building. In LINEAR Building, you can define whether and how certain parameters are transferred during building detection in the configuration before detection.

In the Analyse tab, you can make settings for building detection for architecture on the Revit side.

For detailed information on how to isolate and prevent modeling problems in interaction of Autodesk Revit and LINEAR Building, see the Recommended procedures for building preparation section.
