Details on Ventilation Zone
Information about the dialog Ventilation zone in the domestic ventilation concept according to DIN 1946-6.
You are here:

General
A ventilation zone is defined as a group of rooms with the same use. In multi-family houses, the individual apartments represent the ventilation zone, in single-family houses it is the entire building (i.e. the project).
Number
Indicates the number of the project, part of the building, storey, apartment or room, depending on the level selected in the building structure.
Name
Indicates the name of the project, part of the building, storey, apartment or room, depending on the level selected in the building structure.
: Opens the dialog Room data, Storey data, Data on: Apartment or Building data, depending on the level selected in the building structure.
Ventilation zone settings
only one facade exposed to wind
Specifies whether one or more sides of the facade are exposed to wind. The program takes this setting into account when calculating the infiltration volume flow for cross and shaft ventilation.
Interior doors with seal
Specifies if the interior doors have sealings. If the interior doors have sealings, a larger minimum cross-sectional area is required for the overflow air outlets.
Number of persons (optional)
Specifies the number of persons who use the ventilation zone continuously. The entry of persons is optional. The ventilation calculation for humidity control will be based on a high occupancy if you do not make an entry here. If mechanical ventilation and the Allocate people method have been selected in the configuration for the occupancy of bedrooms, children's rooms and guest rooms, the number of people will be divided among the rooms with these three supply air room types. This ensures the minimum supply air volume flow of 15 m³/h per person. The calculation according to persons only takes effect if the outdoor air volume flow rate calculated according to persons is greater than the volume flow rate calculated according to area.
If the Allocate persons option is selected in the configuration for domestic ventilation, the number of persons entered here is divided equally between bedrooms, children’s rooms and guest rooms according to the Distribution factors. The values in the No. of persons column in the room overview are adjusted accordingly. Values that were entered manually in the room overview under No. of persons are not affected by changes in the Number of persons (optional) field.
If the Standard occupancy option is selected in the configuration, changes in the Number of persons (optional) field have no effect.
Ventilation Concept
Allows you to select the ventilation concept. You can select the ventilation concept if the level selected in the building structure is activated as a ventilation zone. Switch to the project level if you’re working with a single-family house. Switch to the apartment level if you’re working with a multi-family house.
Ventilation Concept
Defines the ventilation measures for the ventilation zone. Clicking opens the menu where you can select a different ventilation concept.
You can choose between mechanical and natural ventilation. As soon as increased requirements are specified on sound protection, indoor air quality or energy efficiency, free ventilation is no longer sufficient and the selection of a ventilation concept is required. Depending on the ventilation concept selected, the ventilation components required for this and the air volumes flowing into and out of the room are entered in the room overview.
Info
Opens an overview of the systems and operating levels of domestic ventilation.
Switch to dimensioning
Opens the Room list dialog of the Domestic ventilation module.
If you select Cross-ventilation as the ventilation concept and have windowless rooms according to DIN 18017-3 in the ventilation zone, two further rows appear for defining the maximum and minimum exhaust air volume flows of the ventilation system. You can either apply the values from DIN 18017-3 or create a user-defined entry using the button . If the user-defined values are below the values from the standard or if the minimum exhaust air volume flow is higher than the maximum exhaust air volume flow, corresponding errors are output in the log.
Room table
If you connected two apartments with the same name and number using the View apartments with the same name and number as one apartment function, the rooms of the connected apartment will also appear in the room table.
By clicking you have the possibility to copy the contents of the table with or without column heading and paste it into Excel.
If you have selected individual rows or cells, you can copy the selected data with the key combinations Ctrl+C (with column heading) or Ctrl+Shift+C (without column heading) and paste it into Excel, for example.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Number | Specifies the number of the room. |
Symbol | Identifies the ventilation type using the following symbols:
|
Ventilation type | Specifies the type of ventilation for the room. Deactivated rooms, unlike unventilated rooms, are not part of the balance of the ventilation zone. |
Name | Indicates the numbers of the building part, storey, apartment and room depending on the selected building structure. If the project is not divided into building parts or apartments, the column shows only the storey and room numbers. |
Exterior windows | Indicates whether a room has an external window. In bathrooms and WCs without windows, ventilation must be carried out in accordance with DIN 18017-3 and may result in different minimum volume flows. |
Ventilation Concept | Specifies the ventilation concept of the room. If from zone is selected, the ventilation concept of the ventilation zone is applied. Clicking |
Category DIN 18017-3 | Selection of the category from DIN 18017-3 for exhaust air rooms that are ventilated according to this DIN standard. If the value from zone is selected, the category of the zone is used. |
Length, Width, Area | Specifies the length and width of the room (clear dimensions) in m as well as the area of the room in m2. |
Volume | Specifies the volume of the room. The volume is calculated based on the the clear area and the clear height of the room. The clear height of the room is calculated based on the storey height minus the ceiling thickness. |
Room air dependent fireplace | Indicates whether the room contains a room-air dependent fireplace. If there is a room-air dependent fireplace, the program sets at 4 Pa for the outdoor air diffusers, otherwise 8 Pa. |
Room for drying washing | Specifies if a room is used for laundry drying. Extract air rooms in which laundry is dried are designed with an extract air volume flow rate of 40 m3/h. |
Ventilation components | Specifies the ventilation components once you have selected a ventilation concept for the ventilation zone. The abbreviations have the following meaning:
|
Supply air factor | Specifies a distribution factor for supply air rooms. The distribution factor can be adjusted manually to deviate from the set specifications. Adjusted values are displayed in bold. Clicking on |
Number of individuals | Specifies the number of persons assigned to the room according to the default occupancy or distribution factor in the configuration (for guest rooms, children’s rooms and bedrooms with a mechanical ventilation system). The number of persons can be specified manually in the Number of persons column. Manual entries are formatted in bold. To reset a changed value, the entry can simply be deleted. |
q (on) | Specifies the amount of air in m3/h that enters the room either through the supply diffuser or through the OuCO (Outdoor component outlet) and infiltration. |
q (off) | Indicates the air volume in m3/h flowing out of the room either through the extract air outlet, the overflow air outlet or through the OuCO (Outdoor component outlet) and infiltration. |
Show rooms sorted | Sorts rooms by ventilation type in the following order: Supply air rooms, Extract air rooms, Overflow rooms, Unventilated rooms. By default, the program sorts the rooms by room numbers. |
