Adding a QR code to a plan to check if it is up to date

Shows step-by-step how to initially place a QR code in a plan of a DWG drawing to check whether the plan is up to date.

Before you begin

You have created a plan and want to add a QR code to it so that you can check whether the plan is up to date on the construction site with a simple scan.

Requirements:

  • The current view is the plan that is to receive the QR code.
  • The plan includes a title block.

Navigate to:

Labeling and Output tabPlot / Print

Applies to all disciplines.

Command group “Plot/Print” in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Click on Generate QR code ....
  2. Click to select a title block in the drawing.
    The AutoCAD dialog Assign Image opens:

  3. Specify the necessary settings for the placement of the QR code and click OK.
    Note: When renewing the QR code, the already placed QR code is automatically replaced after selecting the title block, the new code is activated and the outdated code is deactivated.
  4. Place the QR code in the drawing according to the specified placement method.

Results

The QR code is placed in the desired position and activated.
Note: As DWG files do not currently support the saving of images, the QR code is saved in a separate PNG file, which is saved under the save path of the DWG file. Make sure that the corresponding PNG files of the QR codes are always included when passing on the DWG files.
