Components

Explains the concept of the Components section in Pipe and Duct Network Calculations.

General

In the section Components of Pipe and Duct Network Calculations, you can edit, copy and reset properties of components, pipes and ducts.

Components

Each component belongs to a component type that determines which function a component is to have in the calculation and which default values will be proposed for the technical data of the component.

Each component carries technical data which form the basis for calculation but can also be edited. The technical data of each component are saved in the project. Technical data can be copied to other components of the same component type.

In the trades heating, cooling and potable water you can change the settings for component connectors and thus define additional connector material. The corresponding connector pieces of the selected manufacturer are then listed in the parts list.

Property Content
Component type
  • Determines the name of the component.
  • Determines the proposed technical values in technical data of the component.
Technical data
  • Are used for calculation.
  • Are edited in technical data of the component.
  • Can be changed for each individual component.
  • Are saved in the project for each component.
  • The source is an external file (neutral or user-defined).
Connections

Applies to: Heating, Cooling, Potable water.

  • Only exist if connections have been specified.
  • Extend the parts list by additional connector material (depending on the selected manufacturer).
Link

Applies to: Heating.

Components calculated in pairs have to be linked to their respective partner component in order to be calculated correctly.

Pipes and ducts

Pipes and ducts can contain pipe- or duct systems, zeta values, lengths and insulation and ambient temperatures.

Property Description
Material Settings
  • Pipe system or duct system
  • Zeta values (from pipe tables)
  • Insulation (Heating, Cooling, Potable water, Ventilation)
Ambience
  • Ambient temperature (Potable water)
Length
  • length determined from the drawing
  • Or: edited length
