Defining a New Pipe Route Cross-Section

Shows step by step how to define a new pipe route cross-section.

Before you begin

You have completed the requirements planning and placed the necessary equipment rooms in the project. Now you would like to define pipe route cross-sections that can be assigned to the pipe routes in the project.

Navigate to

Project tabDisciplines ...Workflow Pipe Route ConceptDesign tabCross-Sections ...

Sections new dialog Linear Revit

Procedure

  1. Click .
The Cross-Section Dialogue: New Cross-Section is opened.
  2. Enter the name of the cross-section.
  3. At the bottom of the dialog, click to add the desired number of pipes to the palette.

If you already assigned pipes to a pipe route in the LINEAR Properties dialog and you call the Cross-Section dialog from the properties, the assigned pipes are displayed here.

  4. Click the individual pipes in the palette and configure them in the Pipe area.
Tip: If the capacity range required in the supply area of this pipe route is known, you can already assign dimensions in this step and thus arrive at a realistic preliminary dimensioning. Assume maximum loads in order to cover all anticipated space requirements.
  5. Drag and drop the individual pipes into the cross section and to the desired position.
  6. Add reserved areas to the cross section for cross bonding of pipes by clicking .
  7. Add placeholders for mounting profiles and threads to the cross-section by clicking and and/or placeholders for complete mounting constructions by clicking and configure the mounting elements as required.
    Note:

Mounting elements are only used to take into account the space requirements of the fasteners in the path and are not generated when paths are generated.

  8. Configure a lateral distance, distance holder and positioning for each pipe.
  9. Click OK.

The new pipe route cross-section is defined with all pipes, pipe dimensions and a cross-section layout and is added to the list of cross-sections. The new cross section is automatically saved as a favorite.

  10. Click Apply.

Results

The new-cross section has been created and can either be used directly when creating new pipe routes or can be assigned to existing pipe routes.
