Configure Layout Templates for Assembly Plans

Shows step-by-step how to configure layout templates for assembly plans.

Before you begin

You would like to adapt the layout templates for creating assembly plans to your needs.

Navigate to:

Project tabDiscipline3D - Model planning“Labeling and Output” tabCommand group “Plot / Print”

Applies to Heating, Potable water, Waste water, Ventilation, Panel heating/cooling, Cooling, Gas, Fire protection, Electrical, Mounting planning.

Command group “Plot/Print” in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Click on Configure assembly plan ....
    The following Note appears:

  2. Click Yes.
    The AssemblyTemplates.dwg drawing opens and automatically switches to one of the layouts in the drawing. The following Note appears:

  3. Click OK.
  4. If necessary, switch to the layout you want to customize.
    Tip: You can also create new layouts by clicking on New layout to the right of the layout tabs.
  5. Optional: Create a copy of the layout to be adjusted so that the original is retained.
    1. Right-click on the name of the layout to be adjusted and select Move or copy... in the resulting context menu.
      The Move or Copy dialog opens.

    2. In the Pre layout area, define the position at which the new layout is to be placed.
    3. Activate the Create copy checkbox and click OK.
      A copy of the layout is created and inserted at the specified position. The copy is given the suffix (2) in the designation.
    4. Switch to the created copy and if you wish, change the name.
  6. Customize the layout to your needs by adjusting, moving or adding texts, viewports or tables, for example.
  7. Double-click on the frame of a view window to configure the view window.
    The model area of the view window opens.
    1. If necessary, select a different visual style for the view window.
    2. Click on Configure assembly plan again ....
      The following context menu opens.

    3. In the upper area of the context menu, define the viewing direction from which the components are displayed in this window.
    4. Select whether the components are to be labeled and dimensioned and whether the pipe ends or axes are to be used for the dimensioning.
    5. If necessary, adjust the scale for the representation of the components.
    6. Click on Close.
  8. Customize other viewports if necessary.
  9. Save the AssemblyTemplates.dwg file and close the drawing.

Results

You have adapted a layout template for creating assembly plans to your requirements.
