Linking and Importing an Architecture

Explains the concept of the IFC Link workflow and the IFC Import workflow in the context of the discipline architecture.

With the LINEAR Solutions you have two options to create a DWG file with an architectural model in AutoCAD based on an IFC file and the data it contains. To do this, you can link the IFC file using the planning type IFC Link Workflow or import it using the planning type IFC Import Workflow.

The main difference is that with the IFC import, the data is copied to the BIM software, while with an IFC link, the program establishes a connection to the source file and changes in the source can be updated. The choice between IFC Import Workflow and IFC Link Workflow depends on the requirements of the project and how the stakeholders work.
