Flexible Control of Units for LINEAR Properties

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

In many projects, project- or standard-dependent units lead to unnecessary restrictions on how parameters are displayed. Until now, units were automatically inherited from the Revit project units (e.g., all pressures in Pa or all lengths in meters) and could not be adjusted flexibly for the relevant context.

With the new control of units in the LINEAR properties, you can now configure the display of your parameters exactly to your specifications. In the property set configuration, a new feature is available that allows you to override units individually or reset them to the Revit default settings at any time.

This allows parameters to be tailored to project-specific requirements or individual office standards – regardless of the global project settings in Revit. You decide whether the customized units should be used project-wide or only within individual property sets.

Summary of benefits:

  • Override units individually for each parameter
  • You can reset to Revit's default settings at any time
  • Flexible use across projects or within individual property sets
  • Adaptation to project-specific requirements
  • Greater flexibility regardless of Revit project units

Automatically Count and Analyse Room Components

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

The new "Count Room Components" feature expands the room assignment of components to include automatic quantity calculation within rooms, thereby laying the groundwork for structured analyses directly within the model.

Once rooms have been assigned to components (e.g., using the new assignment feature), the number of components included can be determined automatically. This makes it much easier, for example, to compare target and actual values using data from the building room data sheet.

In addition, this opens up new possibilities for creating structured parts lists organized by room, calculating quantities for tendering, or generating key schedules. This significantly reduces the effort required for manual analysis, especially in larger projects.

Summary of benefits:

  • Automatic calculation of material quantities by room
  • The ideal basis for comparing actual results with targets
  • Structured reports for tendering and parts lists
  • Advanced analyses directly within the model

Advanced Storey Tables for Building Sections in AutoCAD

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

Different storey heights, mezzanines, or multiple buildings with varying levels are often among the greatest challenges in the day-to-day work of complex projects. In addition, varying ceiling thicknesses and unique floor structures further complicate the situation.

With the expanded storey tables for building sections, you can now organize such projects much more clearly. The new "Building Sections" tab allows for a clear breakdown of the project and makes it easier to navigate specifically within individual building areas.

Using intuitive lightbulb icons, you can easily control the visibility of storeys, disciplines, systems, spools, and sections or partitions. This allows you to display only the information that is relevant to the current step. Only the storeys assigned to the currently selected building part are displayed automatically. This significantly reduces complexity and makes it easier to keep track of things, even in very large projects.

Summary of benefits:

  • Structured management of multiple building sections
  • Intuitive visibility control via lightbulb icons
  • Automatic display of relevant storeys for each building section
  • Improved overview of complex building structures
  • Faster navigation within large projects

Optimizing Duct Design with e-KlimaX

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

With the new "e-KlimaX – Areas to Parameters" feature, you can sustainably optimize your air duct design processes – from design to manufacturing. This makes key area information readily available directly on each component, thereby improving transparency and data quality throughout the project.

The current area values for sheet metal and insulation materials, as well as the corresponding cost group, are automatically applied to the selected components. The information is then available directly in the LINEAR properties under "Product Information" and can be used at any time for further analysis or tendering.

This reduces the need for manual analysis steps and significantly improves consistency between planning, material determination, and subsequent billing.

Summary of benefits:

  • Automatic transfer of sheet metal and insulation surfaces
  • Cost groups available directly on the components
  • The ideal foundation for analysis and tendering
  • Improved transparency of relevant material information
  • Greater data consistency between design and production

Advanced Synchronization of Floor Heating Parameters

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

In version 26.1, this synchronization between Building and Revit has been expanded to include additional thermal and hydraulic information, making even more relevant data available directly within the model.

For example, in heating and cooling circuits, flow temperatures and differential temperatures  are now also synchronized. This improves the transparency of hydraulic systems and makes it easier to track the design within the model.

In addition, further parameters for load distribution have been added for MEPspaces. This makes it immediately clear in the model which portions of the heating or cooling load are covered by, for example, radiators, air heaters, convectors, or radiant heating or cooling systems. This effectively supplements existing information on radiant heating and cooling loads, enabling a more detailed analysis of thermal relationships directly within the model.

The enhanced parameter transfer improves data consistency between the calculation and the design. At the same time, new opportunities are emerging for structured analyses, energy assessments, and transparent documentation of thermal systems directly within the model.

Summary of benefits:

  • Enhanced synchronization of thermal and hydraulic parameters
  • Flow temperatures and temperature differentials are available directly in the CAD model
  • Greater transparency regarding the distribution of heating and cooling loads
  • Improved data consistency between calculations and the model
  • A more comprehensive basis for evaluations and energy analyses

Customizable Room Information in the Output

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

With LINEAR's print template editor, you can flexibly customize the output of your project and calculation data to meet project-specific requirements and office standards. Thanks to the expanded options for room information, room names can now be customized even further and organized more effectively.

To ensure clear room identification, the abbreviations for the building section and storey are always included before the room number. Starting now, you can flexibly decide how this information should be displayed within your print templates. If a room number already contains this information, duplicate entries can now be specifically avoided.

In addition, further Building room parameters are available directly within the print templates. This allows room names, room numbers, and other room-related information to be flexibly combined, structured, and displayed in a customized manner.

The result is clearly structured and consistent project deliverables that can be easily adapted to your desired documentation structure.

Summary of benefits:

  • Flexible display of room name and room number
  • Use of Additional Building Room Parameters
  • Customization to meet project-specific requirements
  • Avoiding duplicate information in room names

Improved Labeling of Synchronized Parameters

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

LINEAR Building offers extensive options for synchronizing parameters between Building and CAD. With the new enhancements, it’s now even easier to keep track of synchronization directions and parameter mappings – especially when working with complex room data sheets and large-scale projects.

In the future, synchronized parameters will be highlighted in the interface using different formatting styles, such as bold, italic, or bold italic. This allows you to see immediately in which direction a parameter is synchronized and what information is exchanged between the systems.

In addition, tooltips displaying the respective parameter names have been added to LINEAR Building. This makes it easier to map data, particularly when creating room data sheets or comparing data with CAD files and ensures greater transparency within the workflow.

The new labels not only improve clarity but also reduce potential sources of error when working with synchronized data.

Summary of benefits:

  • Highlighting synchronization directions using formatting

Item Numbers without Considering Cutouts

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

The assignment of item numbers has been expanded to include the new option “By item/type (ignore cutouts).” As a result, components with the same dimensions will be assigned the same item number in the future, even if they have different cutouts.

This offers a significant advantage, particularly in manufacturing and assembly processes: For example, if cutouts are created on-site, it becomes easier to group identical components together, order them, and clearly identify them later.

This new feature thus supports more structured design while reducing the effort involved in ordering, manufacturing, and assembly.

Summary of benefits:

  • Same item numbers despite different cutouts
  • Simplified ordering and allocation on the construction site
  • Ideal for structured manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Simpler grouping of identical components
  • A more efficient workflow between design and production

Targeted Reduction of Manufacturer Parameters

LINEAR Solutions V26.1

When inserting manufacturer components from the CAD Browser, manufacturer-specific information is often imported into the model along with the LINEAR parameters relevant for calculations. However, these parameters often refer to only a single operating point and are not automatically updated when changes are made to the pipe or ventilation network at a later time.

With this new feature, these additional manufacturer parameters are specifically reduced during the integration process. This reduces the amount of unnecessary information in the project and improves the clarity of the model.

At the same time, data consistency improves, as redundant or potentially outdated manufacturer information does not need to be maintained separately within the project. The result is a more structured and robust data model that leads to higher-quality projects.

Summary of benefits:

  • Reducing unnecessary parameters in the project
  • Avoiding redundant manufacturer information
  • Improved data consistency and project quality
  • More streamlined and compact models
  • Fewer potential sources of error when making design changes
