View Control
Explains the concept of view control of the LINEAR Solutions for Revit.
Basic Зrinciple of the Мiew Сontrol
The view control of the LINEAR Solutions for Revit is designed to simplify the handling of views in Revit models. This requires a clear view structure, which originates from the use of the view control in the LINEAR Control Board.
In the LINEAR Control Board, all views of a project are organized according to the following simple principle:
- What = discipline(s)
- Where = building part + storey
- How = Floor Plan, 3D, Section, …
Creating Views
New views are created with just a few clicks. The What/Where/How specifications are simply taken from the current settings of the respective areas of the LINEAR Control Boards and transferred to the dialog for configuring the view to be created. If necessary, can adjust these settings and make further configurations.
For creating work and 3D sections, the corresponding functions are available in the footer of the LINEAR Control Board.
Structuring the View Lists and Adjusting Views
All available views are displayed, sorted by view types, in the area of the corresponding views at the bottom of the project tab of the LINEAR Control Board. You can select, rename, and delete the views there. The properties of the views can be adjusted via the LINEAR properties and the Revit view control functions. You can also easily assign additional disciplines and building parts to existing views by selecting the relevant view and activating the checkboxes for the disciplines and building parts to be added. Also, activating and deactivating certain element categories of disciplines (e.g., supply air in ventilation) and storeys can be easily controlled with the corresponding lamp buttons.
Once you have customized a view to precisely match the requirements of your task, you can use the view as a template when creating new views, so you don't have to make all the settings again. Furthermore, you can also subsequently transfer specific view properties to one or more already created views.
Display Suitable Views and Filtering Options
To conveniently and time-efficiently display the appropriate views for each use case, simply select the relevant settings regarding the required discipline, and the desired building part and storey on the Project-Tab. The information is then automatically compared with the contents of the available views, and the matching views are marked with a green check mark. This completely eliminates the need for time-consuming searches for suitable views.
Furthermore, a filter function allows filtering by work views of different users, by sheet views, and by change lists. This allows you to reduce the lists of views to a currently relevant selection with just a few clicks.
Examples for the Use of View Control
From a discipline-specific view to the MEP coordination overview:
Many views don't just represent a "where" or a "what". Overview floor plans, for example, show more than one building part and coordination plans show more than just one discipline. To control this, simply activate the checkbox for the relevant disciplines. For example, a pure heating view simply becomes a mechanical coordination view by activating the check marks in front of the disciplines Ventilation, Potable Water and Waste Water. This means that this view is then offered as the appropriate view in all MEP disciplines.
Control of View Content:
In addition to the basic structuring of the views, the view control can also control the contents of the views in the simplest way. Do you, for example, want to temporarily hide the supply air in a ventilation ceiling plan so that you can clearly see the exhaust air duct underneath? Then simply click on the lamp button to the right of the discipline. Here you will find everything you need to know about displaying and hiding items related to the corresponding discipline.
Or do you want to unlock the 3. Floor in a 3D view? This can also be done very easily using the lamp button on the corresponding storey.
