Shows step-by-step how to create a custom label family using the Create Label Family function.

Before you begin

You want to create a custom label family to label your model with the desired data. You can then use this label file in the Labeling dialog under Configure Label.

Navigate to:

Revit RibbonLINEAR| ToolsCreate Label Family

Procedure

  1. Select a suitable entry from the drop-down list Labeling for.
Tip: If you select a component in the model before starting the Create Label Family function, the corresponding category is automatically listed and selected in the drop-down list Labeling for.
  2. Use the Group drop-down list to select an entry for the appropriate discipline or workflow.
The entries in the table of selectable labeling parameters are filtered according to the selection.
  3. Click to select a parameter from the table.
  4. Click on the arrow symbol to add the selected parameter to the table on the right and thus to the custom labeling family.
Tip: You can also double-click on a parameter to add it to the selection.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to select further parameters for the label family.
  6. Optional: Change the order of the label elements in the selection using drag and drop.
  7. Set the formatting for displaying the parameter description and the parameter value in the top right of the dialog.
Tip: Select the Preview tab to visualize the formatting changes right away.
  8. Click on OK.
Note: If you click on Edit Details, the Revit family editor opens after saving the label, in which you can make further adjustments to the label as required (e.g. add graphic elements).
    A file explorer opens.
  9. Select a file name and a path and click OK to save the label family.
