Details on “Property Sets”

Information on the Property Sets dialog in the Room Data Sheet module.

The Property Sets dialog is used to create and manage property sets. You can create, rename, or delete property sets and assign them to structure configurations. You can create additional room parameters for property sets or import them from a CAD model. You can also configure the rendering of the parameters (e.g., the name and the unit used) and define calculation formulas and restrictions for the values of the parameters. Many of these latter settings for the parameters or their values can also be adjusted directly in the context menu of the column titles in the room data sheet views of the property sets.

Dialog Property Sets of the Room Data Sheet module in LINEAR Building

Property Sets

Lists the available property sets for the project. You can configure the property sets using the other areas of this dialog.

Move Property Set Up, Move Property Set Down

Allows you to move the currently selected property set to adjust the order of the room data sheet views of the property sets in the structure configurations. The settings in the Display in Following Structures section may also affect the order when property sets are displayed in structures by removal.

Create New Property Set

Allows you to add additional property sets. Clicking on opens the Property Set dialog, where you first specify the Name of the property set. The new property set is then created, added to the list of Property Sets, and selected for configuration.

Edit Property Set

Opens the Property Set dialog to customize the name of the selected property set.

Delete Property Set

Deletes the currently selected property set.

Display in the Following Structures

All structure configurations of the project are listed in this area. Use the checkboxes to specify in which structure configurations the room data sheet view of the property set is displayed.

Available Parameters

This area lists all available room parameters for the project that are not assigned to the current property set. Use to add parameters to the selected property set. You can also create, edit, and delete room parameters and import them from a connected CAD program. A filter and search function are available to help you find parameters quickly. The parameter key of the selected parameter is displayed in the field below the list.

Filter

Drop-down list for selecting a filter for the list of available parameters. After selecting a parameter category, the list is reduced to the room parameters of that category.

Search

Field for entering a search term. You can search the list of available parameters by parameter name or by parts of parameter names. The search starts automatically after you enter the first character and is updated after you enter further characters. Upper and lower case is not relevant.

Add Parameter to Property Set

Adds the selected parameter to the currently selected property set.

Import Parameter

Opens the Import New Parameters dialog box, which allows you to import room parameters from a connected CAD program.

Create New Parameter

Allows you to add additional room parameters. Clicking on opens the Parameter dialog, where you can specify the name and unit of the parameter. The new parameter is then created, added to the list of available parameters, and selected.

Edit Parameter

Opens the Parameter dialog to customize the name and/or unit of the selected property set, provided it is a parameter that can be edited.

Delete

Deletes the parameter selected in the list. Predefined parameters cannot be changed or deleted; only imported or user-defined parameters can be changed or deleted.

Selected Parameters

Lists all parameters of the selected property set and allows you to edit the parameters. Use to remove parameters from the selected property set. The field below the list displays the parameter key of the selected parameter and any defined restrictions and/or calculation formulas.

Table 1. Table of Parameters in Property Set
Column Description
Parameter Defines the name of the parameter.
Unit Displays the unit of the parameter and, depending on the data type of the parameter, allows you to adjust the unit, the number of decimal places, and, if necessary, the output format of the unit (e.g., from decimal to fraction).

: For parameters with the corresponding data types, opens a context menu for adjusting the unit, the number of decimal places, and, if necessary, the output format of the unit.

Aggregation Specifies whether and how the value of the parameter is aggregated in the room data sheet views at the outline levels of the structural elements. The rendering of the aggregated values can be enabled/disabled using the button Aggregations in the toolbar.

: Opens a list for selecting the aggregation options.

Restriction Indicates whether and what type of restrictions are defined for the parameters and allows you to define restrictions.

: Opens the Restrictions dialog, where you can define restrictions.

Calculation

Indicates whether the parameter values are calculated and allows you to define formulas for calculating parameter values with references to other parameters and/or variables for the corresponding parameters. The calculation formula for the parameter values of the selected parameter is displayed in the field below the list of selected parameters, if applicable.

: Opens the Formula Editor dialog, where you can define formulas for calculating parameter values. The formula editor is only available for user-defined parameters.

Remove Parameter from Property Set

Removes the selected parameter from the property set.

Move Parameter Up, Move Parameter Down

Allows you to adjust the order of the columns for the individual parameters in the room data sheet view of the property set.
