Load and Use External Shading Data (Revit) in LINEAR Building

Shows step-by-step how to load external shading data from a LINEAR EAC File created in Revit into LINEAR Building and use it for calculations in the Dynamic Cooling Load module.

Before you begin

You want to load the shading data, which you calculated with the LINEAR Solutions in Revit, into LINEAR Building and use it for the calculation of the dynamic cooling load for your building model.

Requirements:

You have calculated the shading with Revit and exported the data into a LINEAR EAC File.

You have selected the option Pre-calculated Values in the Configurations for Dynamic Cooling Load on the Solar Options tab under Shading.

Navigate to:

Module OverviewDynamic Cooling Load - Cooling Load Calculation

Procedure

  1. Apply your building model from Revit in LINEAR Building or load an already available LINEAR Building project file (*.PRO) containing the building model data.
  2. Select the Dynamic Cooling Load - Cooling Load Calculation module in the module overview.
  3. Select the project, storey or apartment level in the Building structure.
  4. Click on Location And Climate Data and configure Country, Weather Station, and any additional data for the Project Location. Close the dialog by clicking on OK.
  5. Open the Configurations and select the tab Solar Options.
  6. Select the option Precalculated Values from File in Shading.
  7. Click on the Select button.
    The file explorer opens.
  8. Select the LINEAR EAC File that you previously created for the corresponding building model, and exit the Configurations dialog by clicking Close.

Results

The shading data you calculated with the LINEAR Solutions in Revit for your building model is now considered in the cooling load calculation. This means that the shading caused by surrounding buildings or objects on the site is included in the calculation.
