Details on "General" in the "Settings” (Waste Water/Roof Drainage)

Information about the General tab in the Settings dialog in the Pipe Network Calculation Waste Water.

On this tab, you can specify which layers are used for detecting components and pipes, and whether the entire network or only a specific part of it is detected. Additionally, you can set whether the dimensions constructed in the drawing are used in the calculation or if the required dimensions are determined. You can adjust the search radius for detecting connected components and set height and length factors for pipes in schemes. The settings are saved with the project.

Layer

In this area, you specify which layer are used for detecting components and pipes in the calculation.

The layers are preset according the program specifications. The program recognizes different types of pipes (Waste Water, Rainwater, Ventilation) by the layer on which these pipes have been placed. The built-in symbols are drawn on a separate layer. The program then recognizes to which pipe type the symbols belong, based on the pipes in which the symbols are installed.

Also detect 3D layers

Activated: 3D pipes from the Design 3D Pipe&Power module are also included in the calculation.

Deactivated: 3D pipes from the Design 3D Pipe&Power module are not included in the calculation.

Symbols…, Waste Water/Rainwater ..., Ventilation…, Texts…

A click on one of the buttons opens the dialog Select Layer <...>, where you can specify which layers are used for detecting the elements of each category (pipe types, symbols, texts, etc.).

Component Detection

In this area, you specify, among other things, whether the entire network or only parts of the network are to be included in the calculation. You can also decide whether the modeled dimensions should initially be adopted as fixed dimensions in the calculation, or whether the correct dimensions should be calculated.

Component Selection

Use this drop-down list to specify whether you want to include all components or only a specific part of the pipe network in the calculation. The list contains the following options for component selection:

  • Detect all components: The entire pipe network with all components is detected and taken into account during calculation.

  • Detect Partial Network: If you select the Detect partial network option, the dialog is minimized and you can select the desired partial network in the current view. You can select or deselect the corresponding components with a selection frame or individually. Confirm the selection of the components with Enter. The number of detected components is displayed in brackets after Detect partial network.

    Calculate Partial Networks

If you start the calculation after selecting Detect Partial Network, the program asks you to reconfirm the selected components for the partial network. You have the possibility to change the selection of the components again or to start the calculation with the currently selected partial network by pressing the Enter key. An error-free calculation is only possible if the selected partial network is self-contained.

: Allows to reselect a subnet in the current view. This button is only activated if you have selected the option Detect partial network and have already made a component selection.

: Selects the selected partial network in the current view. This button is only activated if you have selected the option Detect Partial Network and have already made a component selection.

Modeled Dimensions

You have the option of transferring the designed dimensions from the drawing to the calculation for the entire network or for a selected partial network, or you can have the program determine the required dimensions. The drop-down list contains the following options for transferring modeled dimensions:

  • Do Not Apply: The modeled dimensions are not included in the calculation, and the program determines the dimensions of all components during the calculation.
  • Apply: The modeled dimensions are used in the calculation.
  • Apply for Selection: If you select the option Apply for Selection, the dialog is minimized and you can select or deselect the corresponding components for which the modeled dimensions are to be included in the calculation using a selection box or the mouse. For the remaining components, the program determines the dimensions in the calculation.

Take Selection into Account in Calculation

If you start the calculation after selecting Apply for Selection, the program will ask you to reconfirm the selected components for the partial network. You have the option of changing the selection of components again or starting the calculation with the currently selected partial network by pressing Enter.

: Allows to reselect components in the current view. This button is only activated if you have selected the option apply for selection and have already made a component selection.

: Selects the selected partial network in the current view. This button is only enabled if you have selected the option Apply for Selection and have already made a component selection.

Overwrite Edited Pipe Lengths

If you adjust the length of pipe sections in the calculation dialog where pipe component lengths were previously adjusted manually, these adjusted pipe lengths can be retained or overwritten. By default, when adjusting such pipe sections, a corresponding query appears which can be disabled and which activates or deactivates the option Overwrite Edited Pipe Lengths. If this query is disabled, you can change the current setting using the checkbox Overwrite Edited Pipe Lengths.

Activated: Edited lengths of pipe components in a pipe section are overwritten when the length of the section is changed. The change in the pipe section length is divided proportionally between the lengths of the individual pipe components.

Disabled: Edited lengths of pipe components in a pipe section are not overwritten when the length of the section is changed. TThe change in pipe section length is divided proportionally between the lengths of the pipe components without edited lengths.

Search Radius

The search radius specifies the maximum distance between components that may have been created during drawing and that is tolerated in the calculation of the network. This function prevents inaccuracies in the drawing of component connections in the millimeter range from being detected as open ends and thus as errors during calculation.

Pipes in the Scheme

When setting up this section, keep in mind that a pipe network in the form of a pipe run scheme is only partially scalable at most. Edit the corresponding section directly in the calculation dialog to calculate the change in pipe lengths of a pipe section.

Length Factor, Height Factor

Enabled: The drawn pipe lengths or heights are determined during detection and multiplied by the entered factor. Since drawing is usually done at a scale of 1:1, the default factor is 1.

Disabled: The drawn pipe lengths or heights are determined during detection. If you have already edited pipe section data in the calculation dialog, the user-defined values are used.

Detect Material with Every Calculation

Enabled: For parts list output, the pipe material used will be calculated with each calculation.

Disabled: Calculation will be shortened since material will not be detected.

Output Material as Manufacturer-Neutral

Enabled: When issuing parts lists, manufacturer components are listed without the manufacturer name and without the item number in the neutral components section. If you change this option, you must recalculate the network before reissuing it.

Refresh labeling when calculating

Enabled: If you made changes that affect calculation results, the labels in the project will be updated automatically with each calculation.

Disabled: Labels will be update only after using the function Refresh in the calculation dialog.
