Details on "Duct Dimensions” in the "Settings” (Ventilation)
Information about the Duct Dimensions section of the Settings dialog in the Pipe and Air Duct Network Calculation Ventilation.
In this section, you can specify default values for the dimensions of ducts and fittings, which are used in mass calculation and the Adjust Nominal Diameters function in the calculation dialog.
You are here:

Rectangular Duct
Section Length
For the output of the fitting parts list according to DIN 18379, entering a section length ensures that long straight ducts are output as individual duct components in the specified length.
Extension
Defines the length of the extensions for the flange connections for bends, knees, and transitions, which are taken into account in the duct dimensioning.
Inner Radius
For changes in direction and branches, specify the inner radius for the duct bill of quantities in accordance with DIN 18379.
Length Excess Length
The program automatically determines the necessary transitions. Here you can specify a fixed length if required.
Max. Angle
Enabled: The length of reducers is determined via their opening angle. The determined length is rounded to 50 mm.
Apply sockets in case of branches with different heights or diameters
Enabled: When branching with differing heights or diameters, the program uses sockets as connection piece.
Disabled: In branch situations with different heights or cross-sections, T-pieces with corresponding transitions are installed on the branch components, to which the ducts are then connected.
Accounting Groups according to ÖNORM H 6015-2
Enabled: Output of material listing is done according to ÖNORM H 6015-2.
Disabled: Output of material listing is done in accordance with DIN 18379.
Round Pipe/Oval Duct
Max. Pipe Length
Specifies the maximum pipe length for delivery lengths.
Factor for Bend Radius
Defines the factor for the bend radii, which is relevant for both pressure loss and sound. With the default value of 1 x d, the chord radius is as large as the diameter of the pipe.
Apply Sockets in Case of Branches with Different Diameters.
Enabled: When branching with differing diameters, the program uses sockets as connection piece.
Disabled: In branching situations with different diameters, round pipe branches are listed in the parts list as complete fittings, if necessary with transitions.
Switch to rectangular duct based on diameter, switch to rectangular duct based on height, switch to oval duct based on diameter
The automatic dimensioning is able to layout air ducts automatically as pipes, oval ducts or rectangular ducts depending on the required diameter. If necessary, activate the checkbox Use Oval Duct and specify the threshold value or values at which the cross-section shape changes from one to the other.
Use Oval Duct
Enabled: When dimensioning, air ducts are designed as oval ducts if the diameter exceeds the threshold value specified under Switch to Oval Duct From Diameter.
Disabled: Oval ducts are not used during dimensioning.
Notifications when duct too short
Enabled: If after the calculation you used the function Adjust Nominal Diameters, it may happen that, based on resulting dimensions and subtraction lengths of bends or transition, a duct part turns out to be too short. In these cases, the program will display a message stating that the duct section is too short for the built-in components and necessary transitions.
Disabled: If the function Adjust Nominal Diameters results in duct sections that are too short, no message is displayed.
