Setting Basic Conditions

Shows step by step how to set the basic conditions for calculating heating and cooling pipe networks.

Before you begin

You want to set the basic conditions in connection with hydraulic balancing before the calculation.

Navigate to

Project tabDiscipline: Heating/CoolingAnalyse TabSettings ...

Applies to: Heating and Cooling.

Dialog Settings for Heating Water / Cooling in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

Procedure

  1. Click Basic conditions.

    The Basic Conditions dialog opens.

Dialog Basic conditions in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk AutoCAD

  2. In the section Dimensioning, decide whether the design is to be carried out using only the pipe friction pressure gradient or also taking into account the maximum velocity.
  3. Check and, if necessary, correct the values for maximum velocities if the maximum velocity is to be taken into account in the design.
  4. Enter a percentage value for Global Pressure Loss for Fittings and Connection Pieces if the zeta values of the designed fittings are not to be used in the model.
  5. In the section Hydraulic Balancing, decide whether a hydraulic balancing should be carried out after the calculation.
The following steps are relevant if hydraulic balancing is enabled or minimum pressure drops are to be preset.
  6. In the section Thermostatic Valves - Properties and Dimensioning, decide whether thermostatic valves in the project should be designed according to real or conventional valve authority and enter the corresponding limit values.
  7. Define minimum pressure losses for regulating valves and differential pressure regulators.
  8. Close the dialog with OK.

Results

The basic conditions for the calculation are set.
