Adding User-Defined Symbols to the Symbol Library
Shows step-by-step how to include symbols you have created yourself in the Free Symbols dialog or the Free Symbols category of the Symbols... section.
Before you begin
You want to add a user-defined symbol to the free symbols in order to be able to use the symbol in your drawing.
Requirements:
You have already created the symbol in your drawing, assigned attributes to it and classified it.
Navigate to:
Applies to all disciplines.
Procedure
- Click on Free Symbols ....
The Free Symbols dialog opens.
- Select the Free Symbols Bar 1 entry from the drop-down list.
- Right-click on a free tile. The Properties dialog opens.
- Enter the desired name for the new symbol in the Block Name/File field and click on the Create < button behind the input field. The Properties dialog is hidden and the pickbox for selecting the desired symbol appears.
- Select a symbol in the drawing and confirm the selection with Enter.
- Follow the instructions in the command line. Note: In this step you determine the insertion point and create an image of the symbol for displaying it in the toolbar.
- Right-click on the new icon in the toolbar to open the Properties again and make all the required settings. Note: In the Info input field in the Name area, you specify the name that is used in the Component column in the Classify dialog, for example. In the Texts area of the Info input field, specify the name of the symbol that is used in the calculation dialog and in the technical data of the component, for example. In the parts list, this designation is displayed under Short Text.
- Confirm the settings by clicking OK.
Results
You have added the symbol from your drawing to the Free Symbols Bar 1 and can now use it.
