Calculation Parameters

Calculation Method

Select the calculation method to be used for calculation. Depending on the calculation method, some parameters and settings may change or may not be available. The following calculation methods are available:
  • DIN 1988-3
  • DIN 1988- 300 / EN806(2021/ 2006)
  • Vewin Werkbladen 2.1

Type of Building

Select the building type to be used when determining peak flow rates within the network. This global setting can be changed manually for particular sections of the network in the course of the calculation.

If you selected Special building, the network will be calculated using simultaneities. By default, a simultaneity of 100% applies to all section parts.

Temperature (PWC)

The program specifies a reference temperature of 10° C for the calculation of the fluid properties. If you would like to calculate with a temperature deviating from this value, please enter this value here.

Minimum Flow Pressure Tolerance

Due to dimensioning during calculation, the network is throttled in such a way that minimum flow pressure is just about reached for all faucets. If you want to permit narrow undershoot of minimum flow pressure for selected faucets, enter a maximum value for the undershoot here.

Maximum Static Pressure

The static pressure is preset to a maximum of 5 bar according to DIN4105, but can be changed.

If the calculation determines that the specified maximum static pressure is exceeded, this is reported in the calculation for sound protection reasons.

Maximum Volume of Hot Water without Circulation

Enter a limit value for max. content of hot water pipes outside the circulation circuit. If the calculation determines a larger volume than the specified one, you will receive a warning message.

Maximum Volume of Col Water for Single Connector Pipes

Enter a limit value for max. content for cold water connection pipes that connect consumers to the pipe network. If the calculation determines a larger content than the specified one, you will receive a warning message.

Estimated Portion for Fittings and Connection Pieces

Unfortunately not available in this program version.

Always dimension decreasingly

When throttling the network by dimensioning the pipes, situations may occur in which it appears favorable to the program to dimension a pipe section further from the start of the network larger than the previous one. If you switch on this option, a pipe section will always be dimensioned the same size or smaller than the previous pipe section.

Dimensioning of Closed Circular Pipe

Specify whether or not the circular pipe closure is to be taken into account in the dimensioning for closed circular pipes.

Consider Usage Unit

If usage units have been defined, you can exclude them from the calculation. This allows you to compare both calculation results (with and without usage units).

Zeta Values

Enabled: If you use manufacturer pipe systems containing real, measured zeta values provided by the manufacturer, they will be used for calculation. If manufacturer zeta values are not available, norm zeta values are used.

Disabled: Norm zeta values are used during calculation regardless of the pipe system.

Maximum Velocities

In this section, specify the maximum velocities as limit values for the calculation. The values for maximum speeds depend on the set calculation method. Maximum velocities are intended for the flow rates for the different sections of the potable water network. You can edit the values for your project.

House Service Connection Pipe

Pipes from the drilling connection through to the main shut-off device (MSV).

Consumption Pipes (Zeta < 2.5)

All other pipes where the Zeta value is less than 2.5.

Consumption Pipes

All remaining pipes where the Zeta value is greater than or equal to 2.5.

Continuous Supply Pipelines

All pipes that serve a continuous consumer.

Flexible Pipes

For all flexible pipes the velocity can be manually determined.

reset

Resets all maximum flow velocities to the DIN values originally proposed by the program.

Other Settings

Detect Material with Every Calculation

Enabled: Material for creating the parts list is detected with every calculation.

Disabled: Material for creating the parts list is not detected with every calculation. For large project where changes in material are not to be expected, this can shorten calculation time.

Printout Pipe Material per Pipe Type

Enabled: Pipe material for cold water, hot water and circulation are printed separately in parts lists.
