About the 3D - IFC Link Workflow
Explains the concept of the 3D - IFC Link Workflow planning type.
With the 3D - IFC Link Workflow , you can import architectures from an IFC file to create a linked DWG drawing and then analyze the building with LINEAR Building. If there are changes in the source IFC file, the link can be established again without losing any adjustments that may have been made.
The Workflow offers command groups with commands you can use for linking IFC architectures and for postprocessing the building models created as a result. You can then transfer, analyze and dimension the generated and edited building model in LINEAR Building.
Linking the IFC File
After selecting the IFC file that contains the architecture to be linked, you can specify which objects of the IFC file will be imported and whether any existing IFC zones will be imported as apartments or building parts. During the import, all IfcSpace of the IFC file are taken over as rooms with the data and building parts stored in the IFC file and get a room stamp. Overlapping IfcSpace whose upper and lower edges intersect (e.g. in staircases) are merged into one room during the import.
Processing after Linking the File
After linking the IFC file, you can view any reports that may occur regarding errors, warnings and information in the report window and edit the messages.
Besides the possibility to edit the data of the individual rooms, you can also define shafts afterwards. You can define shafts with and without room data. Shafts with room data are given a room label. These shafts are recognized by the building detection system and also transferred to LINEAR Building. Shafts without room data do not receive a room label. They are not taken into account during Building detection and are not transferred to LINEAR Building. However, the boundaries of room components that border on such shafts are correctly identified in LINEAR Building.
Transfer of the generated building model to LINEAR Building
Before the building is imported with LINEAR Building, you can exclude rooms from the detection and execute a building detection to check the building structure of the model and make adjustments if necessary. You can also specify whether the data stored in the storey table or the topography of the drawing is used to determine the ground level.
The import of the building with LINEAR Building is carried out. In LINEAR Building, you can define specific settings for individual parameters via the synchronization settings in the configuration if required. When the building is transferred, all data from the building model that is required for the different dimensioning rules of the various standards in LINEAR Building is transferred as standard. If a building model contains components consisting of materials that were not defined in the IFC file, these components are created as pseudo components in LINEAR Building. You can then assign a U-value to these pseudo-components in LINEAR Building or define the layered structure of the components.
