Details on “Space Data Visualization”

Information on the dialog Space Data Visualization of the discipline Architecture.

This dialog allows you to visualize all data stored in the MEP spaces in a temporary view and save the generated views if required. You can adjust the Transparency of the visualization objects for the individual MEP spaces and the Saturation of their coloring. For parameters with continuous data types, you can also specify settings for the Legend.

Space Data Visualization Dialog in the LINEAR Solutions for Autodesk Revit

Storage Path of the Opened Project

The storage path of the currently open project is displayed at the top left of the dialog.

Save View

Opens the Create View Name dialog where you specify the name for the 3D view. The Name of the visualized parameter with the addition of 3D as prefix is suggested as the name. The saved views can then be found under the view type 3D Views in the list of views at the bottom of the Project tab.

Note: Saving the view also saves the visualization objects of the MEP spaces in the project, which can result in the visualization objects also being visible in other views. If necessary, use the Show/Hide Visualization Objects function in the Space Data Visualization ... area to hide visualization objects in individual views.

Update

Activates and updates the visualization of space data.

When activated, a temporary 3D view is automatically generated in which the selected parameter is visualized according to the specified settings. In the 3D view, the MEP spaces are represented by visualization objects. These visualization objects are generic placeholders that correspond to the spatial volumes of the MEP spaces and their location in the model. In addition, a freely positionable window with the legend for visualization opens at the bottom right of the drawing area.

Updates are necessary when changing the parameter to be visualized and when adjusting the settings for the Legend.

Tip: If necessary, you can use the various visibility control options to show or hide certain elements, such as building sections or storeys.

Table of Space Data

The space data table lists all parameters currently assigned to the rooms in the project. By clicking on the column headers, you can sort the table in ascending or descending order. Select the parameter to be visualized and then click Update to refresh the visualization.

Column Description
Parameter Displays the ID of the parameter.
Name Shows the name of the parameter.
Type Displays the data type of the parameter.

Continuous: The data are displayed by a color transition between the upper (maximum) and lower (minimum) value.

Discrete: Data in evenly distributed valence intervals are assigned with preset colors in a fix sequence.

Unit Displays the unit of the parameter.

Transparent

Sets the transparency of the visualization objects of the MEP spaces. You can set the transparency using the slider or by entering a percentage value in the input field to the right of the slider. Changes are automatically applied to the active visualization.

Saturation

Sets the saturation of the coloring of the visualization objects of the MEP spaces. You can set the saturation using the slider or by entering a percentage value in the input field to the right of the slider. Changes are automatically applied to the active visualization.

Legend

The functions for defining the legend are only available for parameters of the continuous data type. For parameters of the discrete data type, the legend is generated automatically and each parameter value is assigned a color. After adjusting the legend settings, click Update to apply the changes to the active visualization.

Color Fields: Set Color for Lower Limit, Set Color for Upper Limit

The two color fields show the currently assigned colors for the minimum and maximum parameter values in the visualization and allow color adjustment. The two color fields show the currently assigned colors for the minimum and maximum parameter values in the visualization and allow color adjustment. Clicking on a color field opens the Color Selection dialog, where you can set the color using the slider.

Dropdown List: Specifies the number of intervals into which the parameter's value range is divided during visualization, and thus the number of color gradations within the legend. The number of possible intervals is derived from the number of different values of the parameter. A maximum of 20 intervals are possible.
