Details on "Dimensioning” "in the "Settings” (Potable Water)

Information on the Dimensioning tab in the Settings dialog of the Pipe Network Calculation Potable Water.

In this section, specify the maximum velocities as limit values for dimensioning. The settings are saved with the project. Exceptions are noted accordingly.

Tip: Clicking on the unit of a parameter opens a context menu where you can adjust the unit used, the number of decimal places, and the formatting (decimal, fraction).

Minimum Flow Pressure Tolerance

When calculating the potable water network, the network is regulated by dimensioning the pipes so that the minimum flow pressure p(Min,Fl) is barely reached at all faucets. If you want to permit narrow undershoot of minimum flow pressure for selected faucets, enter a maximum value for the undershoot here.

Maximum Static Pressure

The value is preset to 5000 hPa and can be adjusted if necessary.

If the maximum static pressure is exceeded, a message is issued in the reports for sound protection reasons.

Maximum Volume of Hot Water without Circulation

Enter a limit value for the maximum volume of hot water pipes outside the circulation circuit. If during the calculation a larger volume is detected, a warning will be issued in the reports.

Maximum Volume of Cold Water for Single Connector Pipes

Enter a limit value for the maximum volume for cold water single connector pipes that connect consumer to the pipe network. If during the calculation a larger volume is detected, a warning will be issued in the reports.

Estimated Portion for Fittings and Connection Pieces

Enter a percentage for the portion of fittings and joining pieces you want to be considered during calculation.

Note: This option is available in combination with the calculation according to DIN 1988-3.

Maximum Velocities

The values for maximum speeds depend on the set calculation method. Maximum velocities are intended for the flow rates for the different sections of the potable water network. You can edit the values for your project.

House Service Connection Pipe

Pipes from the tapping clamp to the main shut-off valve (MSV).

Consumption Pipes (Zeta < 2.5)

All pipes in which the zeta value is less than 2.5. Fittings will not be considered.

Consumption Pipes

All pipes in which the zeta value is greater than or equal to 2.5. Fittings will not be considered.

Continuous Supply Pipelines

All pipes that serve a continuous consumer.

Flexible Pipes

All pipes to which flexible pipe material is assigned from the Pipe Tables.

Reset: Resets all maximum velocities to the standard values originally suggested by the program.

Velocity Limits

When selecting the Russian potable water standard SP 30.13330.2020, you can additionally select the velocity limits based on sound levels according to the standard as a default for the pipe network calculation. Select the Velocity Limits option to do this. By clicking the button, you open the dialog Velocity Limits according to SP 30.13330.2020, where you will find an overview of the standard values.

Always dimension decreasingly

Enabled: A section part will always be either as large or smaller than the one preceding it (in direction of the tapping point).

Disabled: When throttling the network by dimensioning the pipes, it may happen under certain circumstances that a pipe section further away from the network start is dimensioned larger than pipe sections closer to the network start.

Consider Internal Water Circulation

Enabled: Inliner circulating pipe is considered during dimensioning.

Dimensioning of Ring Main

Enabled: When dimensioning closed circular pipes, circular pipe closures are taken into account.

Consider Flow Type

This option is activated if a flow divider is found in the potable water pipe network during calculation.

Enabled: When dimensioning the closed circular pipe, a turbulent flow through is aimed at, in order to ensure hygienic operation. If, after dimensioning in the closed circular pipe, the nominal diameter is larger than the connection dimension of the flow divider, a corresponding message is displayed.

Disabled: When dimensioning the closed circular pipe, a turbulent flow through is not considered. The calculation generates an error message if a circular pipe is flushed laminarly and therefore does not meet hygiene requirements. In such cases, you can achieve turbulent flow by manually adjusting the nominal diameters of the circular pipe.

Consider Building Curve

When you select a building type, you also select a building type-specific simultaneity (= building curve). Taking the building curve into account leads to more realistic results when determining volume flow rates (also in circular pipes).

Enabled: The peak volume flow in circular pipes is determined taking into account the simultaneity specific to the building type.

Disabled: The peak volume flow in circular pipes is determined using the simultaneity approach of the active standard or, if available, taking into account the usage units.

Consider Usage Units

Enabled: When dimensioning, usage units that you have assigned to appliances under Usage Units ... are taken into account.

Disabled: If you created usage units, you can exclude them from calculation without losing the assignment. You can compare calculation results with and without usage units. If you have created and assigned usage units but have deactivated the checkbox Consider Usage Units, a note will be issued in the reports. If you perform a calculation with created usage units and without activating Consider Usage Units, the calculation is based solely on the simultaneity curves.

Note:

As part of the calculation methods SP 30.13330.2016 and SP 30.13330.2020, it is necessary to define usage units in order to determine the number of users.

Zeta values according to manufacturer values

Enabled: If you use manufacturer pipe systems containing real, measured zeta values provided by the manufacturer, they will be used for calculation. If manufacturer zeta values are not available, norm zeta values are used.

Disabled: Standard zeta values are used in the calculation, regardless of the selected pipe system.
