Configuring Parameter Synchronization

Shows step by step how to configure the synchronization of parameters between LINEAR Building and a connected AutoCAD or between LINEAR Building and an Excel room data sheet and how to save the configuration.

Before you begin

You want to specify the direction of synchronization for each parameter for building detection or updating with a connected CAD program or for synchronization with an Excel room data sheet. You then want to save the configuration for use on other workstations.

Navigate to

Configuration (Toolbar)Synchronization

Synchronization area in the Configuration of LINEAR Building

Procedure

  1. Click next to the Configuration drop-down list and then on Add in the context menu.
  2. Enter a suitable name for the new configuration and click OK.
  3. Optional: For extensive projects from DWG drawings, deactivate the Prefer Current Method for Building Detection option to save time during building detection.
Attention: Building models from the IFC workflow are automatically detected using the current process, regardless of the checkbox status of this option.
  4. For building detection and updates, use the Thermal Component Properties drop-down list to specify how thermal component properties from the connected CAD should be handled.
Note: If you create layer structures and thermal properties manually in the LINEAR Building master tables, the Do not update option should be selected at this point to avoid data loss.
  5. Filter in the drop-down lists in the Filter section: Module/Type, or use the Search function to quickly find specific parameters.
  6. In the Option column, click on to set the desired behavior for the respective parameter in the context menu.
  7. If you want to use the new configuration as the default for future building registrations or updates, or for Excel room data sheet synchronizations, click next to the Configuration drop-down list and select Set as Default Template.
  8. Next to the Configuration drop-down list, click again and select Export Current Configuration.
The Export Synchronization Configuration File dialog opens.
  9. Save the configuration with a file name of your choice in the desired directory.

Results

All parameters are set as required and the configuration is saved for use on other workstations.
