Creating a Pipe Run

Shows step-by-step how you can draw a user-defined pipe route using the Pipe run < command.

Before you begin

You want to draw a user-defined pipe route.

Note: Please note that in the planning types 2D and 3D floor planning and 2D scheme planning, the settings have to be made in the Pipe run < section of the Control Board instead of the dialog. The procedure is the same, however.

Navigate to:

Procedure

  1. Click on the Pipe run < button.
  2. Click in the drawing to define the starting point of the pipe run.

    This opens the Pipe run dialog with the table for the pipe run definition. If no pipe run has yet been defined in your drawing, the table is initially empty.

  3. Click anywhere in the table to create a new row.
    Note: The first field in the Clear distance column remains empty in the first row.

  4. Select the Trade and the Medium.
  5. Click in the Material field and then on the three-dot button that appears. Route Linear Solutions AutoCAD dialog

    The Start data dialog opens.

  6. Specify the pipe material , pressure rating, nominal diameter and insulation if required.
  7. Confirm your entries by clicking OK.
    The Pipe run dialog appears again in the foreground.
  8. Repeat the process to create further rows and confirm your entries by clicking OK.

  9. Define the reference edge of the pipes in the following context menu.

    The start of the pipe run is created.

  10. Optional: Right-click to open the context menu and select Mirror pipe run to mirror the arrangement of the pipes when drawing.
    Note: You can only mirror the pipe run when you start drawing.
  11. Draw the course of the pipe run.
    Note: The order of the pipes depends on the drawing direction.

Results

You have drawn the user-defined route. You can continue drawing the route at any time or create branches with T-pieces.
