Classifying Components

Shows step-by-step how to classify components in order to assign the desired calculation type to the components for the Pipe and Duct Network Calculation.

Before you begin

You have unclassified components in a pipe or duct network and want to assign the appropriate calculation types to the components so that they perform the desired functions in the calculation.

Note: As of version 25.0, the use of _User.tec files for the inclusion of custom symbols in pipe or duct network calculations is no longer supported. Custom symbols that were created with _User.tec files in previous program versions must now be reclassified once.
Tip: When you perform calculations, any unclassified components of the network are automatically listed in the Classify - (...) dialog. You do not have to select the components manually in the drawing.

Procedure

  1. Open the Components section, if necessary.
  2. Click on Classification….
  3. Make a component selection in the drawing that contains the components to be classified and confirm the selection with Enter.
Tip: You can also select components before clicking Classify.... Use this, for example, if you want to use the layer structure filter or the Select Pipe or Duct Sections function for the selection.

The dialog Classify - (...) opens. The selected components are listed in the table. Unclassified types have no entry in the Classify as column.

  6. If necessary, select a variant of the component class from the list at the top right of the dialog or use the drop-down list above to load another TEC file (e.g., a manufacturer data set) to access its variants.
  7. Confirm your selection with OK.
  8. Repeat the process if necessary until all components have the desired classifications.

Results

The components were classified as required and are taken into account accordingly in the pipe or duct network calculation.
