LINEAR Building Synchronize with Linked Excel Room Data Sheet

Shows step by step how to synchronize data from an imported Excel room data sheet modified in LINEAR Building back into the Excel room data sheet.

Before you begin

You have imported an Excel room data sheet and made changes to room parameters or created additional rooms in LINEAR Building. You want to synchronize the current data with the Excel room data sheet.

Navigate to

LINEAR Building ➤ Module Selection ➤ Toolbar

Procedure

Click Synchronize Excel Room Data Sheet .

The dialog Synchronize Excel Room Data Sheet opens.

Note: If you have synchronized your project with a CAD program in the meantime, you will receive a message before synchronization to check the synchronization settings and adjust them if necessary to avoid data loss.
Check the settings for Worksheet, ID Column, Header Row, and Data From Row.

Attention: Ensure that you do not specify a column with room data sheet data for the ID Column to avoid data loss. Normally, the default setting can be retained.
Add missing parameter assignments in the Room Parameters column if needed.
If you want to transfer additional room parameters to the Excel room data sheet, click on an empty row, enter the name for the Excel Column in the newly added row, and select the desired Room Parameter by clicking on .
Select from the dropdown list Synchronization Configuration the entry Default Synchronization Setting - Export Only.

Note: Changing the Synchronization Configuration also directly changes the synchronization setting in the Synchronization section of the Configuration. This change will not be reversed even if synchronization is stopped. Remember to then re-enter your desired synchronization settings in the Configuration if necessary.
Click on Synchronize.
If you have created additional rooms in LINEAR Building, a message appears asking in which direction the differences in the building structure should be applied.
Click on Transfer building structure from building to excel room data sheet if you want to transfer the rooms with the corresponding data to the Excel room data sheet.

Results

The adjusted data was synchronized with the specified Excel room data sheet, taking the selected configurations into consideration.
