Drawing a 3D Air Duct using a Reference Point
Shows step-by-step how to draw a 3D air duct using a reference point from the drawing and define a distance to the reference point if necessary.
Before you begin
You want to draw a 3D air duct and use a reference point from the drawing as the starting point of the duct, e.g. a room corner or a point on a component.
Requirement:
The current drawing contains an element to which the starting point for the air duct should refer.
Navigate to:
Applies to: Ventilation
Procedure
- On the Create tab, select a construction height, a reference edge and, if necessary, an offset.
- Select the Medium for the air duct, e.g. Exhaust air.
- Click Draw duct <.
- Right-click in the drawing area. The following context menu opens:
- Select Reference point.
If you have not yet defined a duct material in the current drawing, the dialog Duct opens.
- Specify the duct shape by selecting a tab (rectangular, oval or round).
- Make all the required settings for the dimensions, Material, Insulation and Connectors on the corresponding tab. Note: To specify the dimensions, you must have previously selected a material for the corresponding duct shape.
- Click OK to confirm the entries and close the dialog.
- Click into the drawing to define the reference point for the starting point of the duct to be drawn. Note: If necessary, enable a corresponding object snap to select the reference point. The Set starting point dialog opens.
- Specify the reference edge of the duct in the construction direction by selecting a radio button and, if necessary, enter a Distance to the reference point, e.g. 500 mm to the right of the reference point in relation to the axis of the duct in the construction direction.
- Click OK. The dialog closes and you are prompted to show the construction direction with the mouse.
- Move the cursor in the direction of construction and confirm the direction and length of the duct by clicking in the drawing. The positioning in reference to the reference point is defined and the beginning of the duct is already at the corresponding starting point.
- Use the mouse pointer to show the direction of the duct to be constructed and click to define the next point for the course. Alternatively, you can also use the options in the context menu for creating the ducts. Note: Bends are drawn automatically when the direction is changed.
- End the drawing process by pressing Enter or ESC.
