Details on Scheme Generator Heating

Information about the scheme generator of the trade Heating in LINEAR Building.

The scheme generator is located on the Scheme tab. Here you can create a schematic pipe network from the designed radiators and other symbols. After that, you can perform the pipe network calculation and output the scheme, calculation results and material list. The scheme generator always displays the complete pipe run scheme regardless of the selected level in the Building Structure. When you select a storey in the Building Structure, the corresponding level is highlighted in the pipe run scheme.

Concept Phase/Detail Planning

Drop-down list for selecting the Toolbar. In the Concept Phase, select from general built-in parts; in the Detailed Planning phase, an extensive range of symbols is available. In early planning phases, the built-in parts of the concept phase can help to obtain uncomplicated initial approximations of anticipated pipe dimensions or to create an initial overview scheme.

All symbols can be placed in the scheme using drag-and-drop.

Scheme view

Displays the scheme with the inserted symbols and connections in the existing storeys and enables you to edit them.

Note: For detailed explanations of the individual menu items in the context menus of the symbols, connections as well as storey and pipe run buttons, please refer to the Details on the Context Menus help page.

: The storeys in the pipe run scheme are taken from the structure of the LINEAR Building project. The button allows to create additional storeys directly in the scheme. These storeys are available in the whole project and are also displayed in the Building Structure.

Symbole der Schemadarstellung

You can move, copy, delete the symbols of the schematic representation and assign them to other pipe runs. Certain functions are limited for radiators, because radiators are always assigned to a room and storey. Furthermore, you can move or copy symbols to another pipe run. You can use the context menus of the symbols to define the connection variant and call up the component data, among other things.

Radiators in the Schematic View

Radiators are displayed with their capacity in watts and the corresponding room number. You can use the context menus to specify the connection type and call up the Connection dialog (menu item: Radiator Data...), in which you can specify all the necessary details for the connection and the valves for the radiator. Further technical data of radiators such as radiator dimensions and capacity can be defined in the Radiator Dimensioning module on the corresponding room level of the building structure.

Hover the mouse over a radiator symbol to display further information about the radiator in the tooltip.

Information in the Tooltip:

  1. Room Number
  2. Room Name
  3. Radiator Model
  4. Radiator Dimensions
  5. Radiator Capacity

Pipe Sections of the Schematic Representation

As soon as symbols have been inserted into the scheme, the individual pipe sections are displayed as red lines (symbolic for supply and return). Click on a section in the scheme to open the Pipe Section Data dialog. In the Pipe Section Data dialog, you can adjust the data of the respective pipe section.

Pipe Run Buttons of the Storeys

Each storey in your project has a pipe run button. Clicking on the button opens the corresponding context menu, which you can use to open the storey options or copy storeys, among other things.

Numbered pipe run buttons of the schematic view

Under the pipe run scheme, the pipe runs are listed numerically next to each other. You can use the context menus of the buttons to open the pipe run options of the respective pipe run, among other things. An individual name can be assigned to each pipe run, which can be entered in the field above and will be displayed. Use the buttons to add further pipe runs to the left or right. After adding more pipe runs, a red symbol appears to the left or right of the field with the pipe run name, depending on the position of the selected pipe run. These symbols represent the distances of the pipe runs to the neighboring pipe runs. Click on the icons to open the Pipe Section Data dialog where you can configure the pipe section.
