About Modes for placing Void Proposals and Slots

Explains the concept of the different modes for placing void proposals and slots.

Three modes are available for slot and opening planning to place void proposals:
  • manual mode
  • semi-automatic mode
  • automatic mode

Manual Placement

When manually placing void proposalsand slots, you have all the parameters in your hand. You define the dimensions of the void proposal or slot and at what height the proposal should be placed or how long the slot should be. This mode is particularly suitable for exceptional situations where the automatic placement modes would lead to undesirable results.

You can place slots only manually. When placing slots, you can either define width, depth and a fixed length before placing or define width and depth and define the length using start and end points in the model. You can use this two-point method in floor plan, building and section views.

You can place void proposals in manual mode, independent of pipes or ducts.

Semi-automatic Placement

For semi-automatic placement of void proposals, specify the lateral distance. The lateral distance is the distance between the pipe or duct and the edge of the opening. The dimensions of the void proposal are determined automatically and, if necessary, rounded up according to the defined setting in the options. This mode is particularly suitable for the quick placement of either round or rectangular void proposals.

Automatic Placement

With the automatic placement of void proposals, you can automatically place rectangular and round void proposals in walls and ceilings after defining some parameters and, if necessary, have the dimensions of the proposal rounded up according to defined setting in the options. Void proposals placed with this function should be checked to correct unusual situations manually, if necessary. This mode is particularly suitable for the quick placement of void proposals of any type. In this mode, void proposals can also be automatically joined in consideration of a minimum distance.
