About the Calculation of Air Duct Networks with MEP-Fabrication Parts

Explains the concept of calculating air duct networks that contain MEP fabrication parts.

When designing air duct networks in Revit, you can use MEP fabrication parts in addition to air duct components. You can design an air duct network partially or completely with MEP fabrication parts or convert an existing network with air duct components into a network consisting of MEP fabrication parts only using the Revit command Design to Fabrication.

While the air duct components constructed in the design have a system type (e.g. supply air or exhaust air) which is necessary for the Air Duct Network Calculation with LINEAR, this parameter is not available in the MEP fabrication parts. Consequently, these components are not correctly detected during the Air Duct Network Calculation. However, you can activate a corresponding parameter for these components to enable the calculation of a network with MEP fabrication parts.

Alternatively, you can map the name of the fabrication category to the LIN_FABRICATION_SYSTEM parameter in the LINEAR parameter management to read the system type this way. Note that for each system type, i.e. for each medium, there must be a separate manufacturing category and the name must correspond to the LINEAR system type.
