About Climate Data

Explains the concept of climate data in the cooling load calculation using the short procedure.

In the cooling load calculation according to the short procedure, you have three options to set climate data for the calculation of the cooling load:

Location selection

The locations in the locations table are assigned to cooling load zones. Selecting a location also sets the appropriate outdoor temperatures, solar radiation and sun position for the selected location. For each location, either the city center (City) or the Surroundings area can be selected. If required, a user-defined location with its own values can also be created.

Selection of the Zone

Select one of the five cooling load zones. The data of the individual zones come from the following tables of VDI 2078 (1996):
  • Table A 8. Diurnal variations in outdoor air temperature for the design months of July and September.
  • Table A 9. Diurnal variation of total and diffuse radiation for the design months of July and September behind double glazing.
  • Table A 11. Monthly maximum of total radiation through double-glazed surfaces.

Free cooling load zone

In the configuration for cooling load calculation in the short procedure, you have the option to create a user-defined data set based on standard data with data on outdoor temperature, solar radiation and sun position. The adapted data set can be saved to a file and used for other projects as well.
