About the Excel Export and Import of Component Lists

Explains the concept of exporting and importing component lists in XLSX file format.

Export part or room lists to an XLSX file to edit the modifiable properties of the exported elements outside Revit. Use Excel-Import to import the list back to Revit to assign the modified properties to the elements. If exported lists contain key parameters that were edited outside Revit, the corresponding parameters of the key are updated during import.

During export, each element is assigned a unique ID in order to ensure that the parameters can be uniquely assigned to the elements during import. You can also read in room lists directly without prior export. For this purpose, you define which parameters are the same to ensure a clear assignment of the parameters. In addition to the export and import of component and room lists, the function also supports the export of key lists.

Parameters that are write protected in Revit are also write protected in the XLSX file. No parameters can be written to write-protected elements, for example the areas of rooms. In such cases you will get an error message during import. The error log, which can be displayed via the error message dialog, provides you with detailed information about the cause of the error.
