liNear at the BIM-Forum in Moscow

This year’s BIM-Forum took place in Amber Plaza, Moscow at the 5-6 June 2019. Among others it was organized by Building Smart Russia. The major topic this time was the importance of Open-BIM workflows. During intensive discussions and reviewing practical examples visitors learned about the importance of the Open-BIM approach and related file formats like IFC and BCF.

To complete the tasks of designing all construction and engineering sections as accurate as possible, design engineers need to use software applications developed by various vendors, some of them really specialists in their field, like liNear. So the basic idea of Open-BIM is to enable collaboration between all the participants in BIM processes. IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is a file format, which describes all types of objects with their geometry and properties. Via IFC Import and Export functionality collaboration between participants gets possible.

liNear as solution provider for design of MEP systems on the Autodesk Revit platform supports Open-BIM approaches on many different levels.

A good example for collaboration during the design process is slot planning. liNear’s new functionality for design of openings and slots was of special interest during this BIM-Forum. With just a few mouse clicks the MEP designer creates all necessary openings in the building model and using the BCF export transmits all information to the Architect or Structural engineer for approval. His approved openings or comments can then be sent back again to the MEP-Designer. Thus the participants are creating a completely new model-bound level of interaction during the design process, which positively influences and accelerates BIM technologies overall.

During the 2 days liNear’s sales partner NIP-Informatica (St. Petersburg) showed the liNear Solutions and answered questions to interested people.
